Agree/Disagree: Period 1
Comments:
i think that it is ok to use animals as companions as long as you dont abuse them. i really dont like the idea of using fur for fashions. i think it is really wrong. i dont think it is right to kill animals just because you want to look fashionable. i mean its ok i guess if the animal has died of natural causes , but not if a person raises the animal just to kill it. the idea of animals for entertainment is cool like the performance elephents, but its not ok that the circus trainers dont treat them the way they deserve to be treated. i think cosmetic researches on animals is horrible. the animal didnt do anything to us so why should we test on them and maybe kill them for our benifits. not even benifits, for our beauty.
on the other hand. if you are killing an animal for a life necesity like food and shelter thats ok. i mean we need to survive. we just dont need cosmetics and fashion to survive

i both agree and disagree with the protest peta is having against cockaroach eating contests. i disagree because some countrys rely on bugs for food and only bugs. i dont have a problem with it becasue im not infavor of cockaroaches, but thats just me. i really dont care what happens to them even though that may be wrong. i mean somewhere in this world cockaroaches may be worshiped, but in others there not. so it really all depends on how you feel about them

i agree with PETA that Six Flags shouldnt make people eat cockroachs because what did they ever do to you. also even if they are doning it then let the people who are poor get a chance because it could be that they have never been to an amusment park but are willing to eat cockroaches. but over all i agree with PETA because cockroaches arent meant to be eaten.

I think not being able to eat a cockroach is dumb. They can live through a nuclear war. I think it's okay if we eat a few, even though I wouldn't. It's the choice of the one dining.

All righty...we have alot of opinions for cockroaches... but what about chickens!
Personally I dont like that chickens are held in cages just to produce eggs. Like I understand why someone would want to kill an animal for its fur...It's pretty. But why would you put chickens in cages to lay there eggs???? They are just doing their job! I don't get it. That is like saying I'm going to put this teacher in a cage to do his job!
Why not let a chicken roam free??? It's not like you are getting any pleasure as humans by having chickens in cages. I didn't even know chickens were ever in cages to lay eggs!!! It's so weird!

So obviously I do not support raising chicken in cages to lay eggs.. That's so mean!!!
They should be...

"Born free,
as free as the wind blows"

random outburst in song!
uh oh...you are rubbing off on us Mr. Johnson!!!!

Slippers is totally right. Mr. Johnson rubbing off on us is not good at all. I like my hair!

But seriously, I disagree with everything else she said. (Nice segue, huh?) I do not like the idea of using animals for fur, but I do think caging up chickens is okay. The fur thing really gets me. Just make fake fur, geez. I certainly wouldn't kill 50 animals for a jacket. If your chickens roam free, how are you going to find the eggs? That would completely defeat the purpose. Also, the chickens aren't completely caged up. They do get pretty big chicken coops.

I chose to read the article about removing elephants from circus acts. I personally agree with ths gesture. I think making these animals perform these tricks and tasks is cruel and unfair. How would you feel if you were paraded around, kept in cages, and forced to do tricks to please and entertain other people? Performing in these circuses is in no way helping them. In fact, it could probably be considered dangerous for them and for us. Accidents could easily happen, and then whose fault would that be? Not the elephants, but the people around who locked it up instead of letting it be free.

I read the article about passing laws about domestic animal abuse in California. I agree with the notion because many animals are being tortured at home and they don't deserve it. They haven't done such wrong things to deserve it. Whenever I see animals in the car with the windows up I get a sick feeling in me. I just want all animals to be treated fairly.

I believe that the Chickens have rights to live. Using Chicken for clothing, especially considering how many it takes to make certain items, is completly wrong. About PETA, I think that they are too extreme in their methods. Animal rights activists, government officials, and PETA should come together and make a compromise on where to draw the line with animal abuse. To me, the line is between having them as pets to abusing them. People should make a stronger effort to find these abusers.

i read the article about eating cockroaches. i personally couldn't care less whether if cockroaches were eaten or not. i mean the whole point of protecting animals is to let our future generation see them, right? well i don't know why anyone would want to see a cockroach.

on the other hand, they are animals, errr, insects anyway and they shouldn't be eaten just for sport and entertainment, especially not for getting vip tickets and not having to wait in line at six flags.

we should just kill of all of the bugs that are not useful or those that are deadly or ones who are gross.

As crazy as I am....I wouldnt rush a fashion show just to say,you are a horrible person because you decided to kill an animal for clothing.I just wouldnt..and i cant help but laugh at the thought of grown people tryong to get their point across in this way.How do people really think animal raised for fur live?Do they think they are treated nice and everyday the farmer says "are you ready to be worn"?I mean, come on...just...come on...no matter what the opinion of one person is,if someone else is dead set on a personal thought, then there is no changing it.at all.Is intruding a fashion show just to say animal are dead, really the right way to go?why dont people just write a letter?hmmm?saying stop it.it would save them time in jail.and once again, faux fur is the best way to go,if you want to be warm then were that.

When it comes to cockaroach eating contests, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. If the person really enjoys eating a bug then they can certainly do so. I don't think PETA should get too worried because there may not be many people that that want to injest a cockaroach.
Using animals for fur is an entirely different subject. So many animals have to be killed just to make one item of clothing. Use faux fur! It practically looks the same! Killing animals for LUXURY items and not necessary items is...wrong.

i definatley disagree with animal killing. The reason so many people are vegetarians is because they know how their meat is made. Slaughterhouses. Would people still but cosmetics if they knew that thousands of mice were killed in the process. Those mice are born just to be tested on. That is like taking people and saying, try this drug, it may work or you may grow more toes and go bald( ha ha mr. j, now i know why your bald). That is why i disagree with animal killing and i am all for protesting slaughterhouses.

I read the article about Ben and Jerry's using eggs from wild chickens. I think that they are taking a step in the right direction. As it said in the article too many chickens are changing their behavior. I agree with what Ben and Jerry's is doing.

i read the cockroach article. I think PETA is taking way to much time on that especially since thats a small problem in the world. Also i think they shouldn't even protest it. It's not like cockroaches are an endagered species. If they were then fine they can protest all they want but its not somehting that people really should care about that much

I read the article about animal rights in California and i sort of have a slat opinion. I think that leaving any animal unattended for a long period of time is totally wrong but sometimes people have reasons that they can't help. I think there's no excuse for the law against leaving animals in cars beyond a certain period of time. It's really wrong and there's no reason for it. I think New York should have more laws like these.

I agree with "Fur flies on cat walk." Obtaining fur from animals who experience such horrible beatings, is disgusting. How can someone be aware of this and still like to wear fur? "Designers who still use fur are heartless and shameless." This quote is so very true. Designers are well aware of where the fur comes from. They just choose to ignore the fact that the animal was well beaten for them to have their fur. They make money, loads of money, off animals that are hurt and killed just for their fur. Thats cruel. Anyone who is well aware of the trouble the animals go through, and still opts to use it, is heartless. I think the animals rights activists have a huge right going to fashin shows and protesting the wearing of fur. If they want to, so be it, it's their choice and it's obviously something they strongly believe in.

New federal law requires helping evacuate pets in a disaster
By KIMBERLY GEIGER

I disagree with this article. ALthough I do love animals, when in a natural disaster, sacrifices need to be made and I believe that a human life is more valuable than that of an animals, in a situation like that. But, requiring the organizations and rescue crews to save animals if they are used to aid a person who is handicapped in someway, is very imperative. These pets would not only be part of the family and a companion, but almost like a guardian.. just like a seeing-eye-dog to a blind person. In a natural disaster, decisions need to be made within a matter of seconds or something even more tragic could occur. In a fire, the firefighters main objective is to get all people out of the building. saving those peoples pets would just be like an added bonus. I know it is heartbreaking to lose an animal but trying to save as many people as possible would be more valuable in events such as these.

I comepletely disagree with PETA's attempt to stop Six-Flags cockaroach eating contest. Its is utterly rediculous. Come on, they're cockaroaches. I dont mean to sound cold hearted, they are living creatures, but they get extereminated every day. Whats next?
Is PETA going to say "DONT KILL THE BUGS INFESTING YOUR HOUSE, WE SHOULD ALL GE ALONG AND LIVE TOGETHER?" Things just go a little too far. Its all in fun, and people eat them in other countries as a delicacy. I think there are way more important things going on in out world to use your time and money protesting.

I read the article about using real animal fur on the runway. I have to say that i agree with the protestors. I mean its one thing when you kill an animal when you need it for nutrition reasons or in order to live......but for fashion? That is going too far plus there are plenty of other materials that look way better, dont hurt animals, and are less expensive.
