11 Million Year Old Fossil
Recently, scientists in Catalonia, Spain have discovered a fossil more than 11 million years old. It is a primate that is believed to be a descendant of primitive "Old World monkeys". They have found a fragment of the jaw and molars, which indicates it is from that group. This find is a major discovery that supports the theory of evolution, which is a big step for science.

Earth Day
Senator Nelson had the first idea to put the environment into the political "limelight" once and for all. At the time Americans were not very Earth conscious and were polluting the air. The idea for Earth Day eveolved over seven years starting in 1962 and the first official Earth Day was in 1970. Senator Nelson debated continuously to have a day like this and was eventully successful.1. Read the article about the history of Earth Day.

SEA TURTLES....
In the past two decades, the sea turtle bycatch rose into the millions. A recent survey says that they are at the brink of endangerment. This has been proved to be an aftermath of the improved fishing gears. The turtles are being accidentally snagged be hooks and drowned in nets. Use of the long-line fishing nets are the major cause of this. It can be easily seen that we are indeed the indirect cause of this!1. Read the article about turtle bycatch.

Drill, or no Drill
Recently, our president changed his mind about offshore drilling. He decided to expand it in the United States. It is said that it is an effort to expand the "green" energy plan. The government will seek permission from congress to open up many new offshore drilling locations.ARTICLE
