im the first!!! okay sooo i think that it is okay to have cloned food...because it might end world hunger and when it was tested it tasted really good...ont think that it is a bad idea but i dont think that its a good idea either because people would feel like they are eating fake meat...as for the labeling i think that no matter what they should have labels...so people know what they are eating...

okay, well first off, i don't believe in cloning period. im a chrisitan and i think it's wrong for humans to recreate something they did not create to start off. On the other hand, if cloned foods are going to be produced, than i feel it is a must that the FDA differentiate between the two. Some people may uncomfortable eating foods that are not entirely organic.

I think it is wrong to clone food. You never know if it could be unhealthy for you. Scientists may test it, but new things could occur (meaning sicknesses).

If we were to start cloning food then they should at least label the ones that have been cloned. People have the right to know what they are eating.

Hmm...this situation to me could go either way. Part of me agrees with poison when he says that this may end world hunger. But the other half of me agrees with Kirsten in the fact that I don't think recreating things that were not already created is a good idea. I think I may be leaning more towards the "no cloning" side. I definitely think that there should be labels on these cloned foods. People want to know what they are eating and where it comes from!

to me food is food.but like other people,i would like to know whether or not my food is cloned. If there is no taste difference between cloned of real animals, then most people wouldnt notice.but there is something about knowing you are eating cloned food feels...a little wrong.but if they are going to clone animals for food, then thats fine with me.as long as it is labeled

I think it should be fine to eat cloned food. I mean,it is an exactly the same as the original so, why would it be bad?? Even though it seems fine, the cloned food should still come with a label on it stating that it is clone. If it doesn't, it would probably cause lots of controversey and this way people might feel safer.

well i think that it is ok for cloning animals to make food but i also dont think its okay because it seems like your eating fake meet. if we do eventually start eating cloned animals and plants there should deffinetly be labels on the packages because of all different beliefs and opinions in the world.

cloned food is good. We need it. we are running out of animals and plants anyway. Whit cloning, endangered animals could be saved. but i would defintely eat cloned food, its not like its going to ill someone. Foood is food. but it should be labeled so those weird obsessive compulsive people out in the world will be happy. but i am g=fine with cloning animals for food.

I thinkthat cloned food is fine. Tests have been done and nothing of the sort is being put on the market until FDA approved, so we know that the food is safe. I think that cloned food should definitely be labeled as such. People have the right to know what theyre buying and eating. Even though scientists say theyve found no difference between organic meat and cloned, I would want to be informed.

Ml. lady

I believe that cloning animals is completely morally wrong. I would never want to eat anything from a cloned animal, even if it was just as safe. I would also be scared thati n the future people will find out that cloned food is harmful and by then it would be too late. I ABSOLUTELY think that cloned food should be labeled. People will want to know if they are eating cloned food. Most people are against cloning, and therefore will most likely not want to eat any food that comes from cloned animals. http://www.centerforfoodsafety.org/cloned_animals.cfm

I don't think that there is anything wrong with cloned food. It's exactly the same as "normal" food, so what's the problem? The only problem I see is that cloned animals cost way more than normal ones. For this reason, cloned food would be more expensive. Other than that, I don't have a problem with it, as long as the cloned animals are used only for food. If we were able to clone cheaply, we could probably stop world hunger.

I definitely think that cloned food products should be labeled accordingly. Many people are against cloned foods and would want to know what they are eating. I can't understand why the FDA would not institute the label, it just seems illogical to me. But that's just my opinion I guess.

I agree with most of the people that have already posted their opinions. I think cloning is okay and that the food should be labeled because people do have the right to know that it is cloned meat. Even though there is no difference it still feels wrong to eat the meat just because the animal was created to be killed and used to feed others plus there are people who just do not want to eat to eat it for reasons of their own. The cloned meat can solve world hunger and saves species from extinction. To top it all off it is "virtually indistinguishable" from the original animal, which makes me skeptical, but that is just me.

i believe that eating cloned food is alright. there have not been bad consequences so far, but maybe there will be later side effects that only time will tell. i already heard of cloned vegetables in our supermarkets but i dont know about meat or stuff like that. they are more complicated than vegetables and can carry more of a chance of ermm bad things..

as for cloned food carrying a label showing its contents, i think that it would be an ethical solution for the people that will not stand for cloned items. i dont know the materials used for the cloning process so reading a label would be helpful.

a link that shows the differing opinions on clones, on how people would react to if a law allowing the cloning of food was passed:

btw, i thought the vid for the octopus thing was disturbing, but it was cool to watch...does that make sense...?

i think it is okay to clone food. it would probably be just as healthy as regular food. they say the animals would be just the same as the animals we eat now and im sure plants would be just the same. it would end world hunger by being able to produce food any time.

as for labels, i dont think one is needed for the content. i think there should be a label as to it being a cloned food, but it doesnt necessarily need a content label. if a person knows they are eating cloned food then im sure they have an idea what its content is.

wellll.....
cloning...hmmmmm...
I believe cloning in general is bad. When you clone, you are putting life on this earth that was not naturally created, but created in a labratory...

so now for food/animal cloning...Personnally i don't want to eat food from a lab...but more importantly, it is extremely expensive
I think that there will be problems in the future with this cloning...in 10 years we are going to be saying...oops maybe that wasn't the greatest idea....
(totally agree with you ML LADY-XO)

ya, there are apealing sides to this discussion like "solving world hunger" but please, with the price of manufacturing...i dont think sooooo buddy!

About the labels...is the FDA out of there minds! labels are extremely necessary for cloned products! I would like to know if i am eating cloned food...thank you very much!
I seriously can't believe the FDA is trying to pull this off...thats rediculous-there are labels for everything else....why change that now!!!
oooooo lordy!!!

well have a good weekend everyone!!!
secrest out!!!

ok so i could go both ways on this topic. Clonin is wrong and that is how i feel cause God made animals and if he wanted more animals he would make them. However the fact that it would bring down the cost of food cause there is more of it would be great for everyone . Also if i don't think there is any need to label it. It is a clone, an exactly identical copy(haha redundant).

My name is the link :)
I think cloned food is okay to eat and make for all who want too, but I don't want to. They should have a label for the food. I don't feel comfortable knowing my burger came from the kids of a petri dish...
