The chromosome that causes Huntington's disease is the 4th chromosome in the right arm.

I would definately go for genetic counseling becasue I would want to know if I was going to develop a disease that deteriorated my brain. This way I will be mentally prepared and try to make the best of my life like Katharine wants to do.

i think i would go to genetic counseling because if i know what is going to happen to me then i can prepare for it before hand. i know you really cant prepare for it but it is better to know what you are going to go through.

If I had a relative who has had Huntington's disease I would definitely go for genetic counseling. This would better prepare me for my future, and all though I would be scared, I feel as if it would highly benefit me. I could better plan my life, and get all the things I want to be accomplished, underway.

I would want to kinow ahead of time, but later on in life, not in my twenty's like Ms. Moser. I think it would be really hard for me to handle, because I would constantly be worried about when the symptoms might begin. But at the same time, I would be able to prepare for the effects the disease might have.

The fourth chromosome is the one that causes Huntington's disease.

I think at first i would be indecisive whether or not i should go, but i would. I would want to know how i should plan the rest of my life. If i knew i was going to die then of course i would plan differently...i would want to complete goals and wants i have...and i would want to spend more time with others because that's really important too.

I would go for genetic counsoling if i knew someone in my family had the disease.I would want to know ahead of time,to be prepared.I wouldnt quite know what to do,im a little pesamistic so id have a bleak outlook on life.In the last blog my topic i talked about human euthanasia,which would be a decision i would make if diagnosed with huntingtons.Even though that seems shallow,it would be better in my mind.

If I was in her situation, If I was her, I would not want to know if I had the disease or not because then you will spend the rest of your life knowing that you wont be able to function properly some day. Therefor I woudl not go for genetic counseling.

This is difficult. I don't think that i would go for genetic counseling. I wouldnt really wnat to know if i was going to develop a serious disease. I think the anticipation of the diesease, counting down to when i'll be disabled, would be awful. YOu cant live the thime before the disease the same as oyu would have without knowing. As you do anything you'll always have the thought of the disease in the back of oyu mind and it will ruin the rest of your healthy life.

If Knew it was likely I would have the disease i would go to genetic counseling to learn all that I could about the disease. This would help me prepare for everything in my life.

i think i would go for genetic counseling so i could be ready for what can come for me. also if i know that i have a disease that may have a huge impact on my life i would want to do do things to "accomplish" my life goals. but i also think that it might be a bad thing to go for counseling because then if i do and find out that i had a deadly disease i would be depressed anticipating my death.

Yes, I would go for genetic counseling. I think if the technology is there to tell me if I'm going to become sick when older, I should use it. It would be better than randomly experiencing symptoms and not knowing the cause. If I were to be diagnosed with this disease, I would do as some other people have suggested; live my life in preparation for it. I would accomplish the things that I had hoped to..but I wouldn't live in total fear that I was going to be one day greatly affected by Huntington's.

I would go to genetic counseling. If you don't, then you would live the rest of your life worried that you might have Huntington's disease. You could also pass it to your children. On the other hand, if you did go, you would be prepared for the disease if you tested positive. Think about it this way: a horror movie is not very scary when you know what is going to happen; even if in the end everyone dies.

i think i would want to know weather i was going to get the diease because i think i would live my life diferently. Im a really optomistic person and i think i wouldnt be as dpressed or tramatised but blessed for being lucky enough to have lived a wonderful life. If I knew, I would be able to make sure i got done what what i needed to get accomplished. And i would make sure my goals were reached. I have big plans for my life, and yes of corse they would change if -God forbid- i was diognosed with hutchingtons disease. I would still want to be an accomplished individual. I would also want to prepare by excersizing like katharine. I think it was an excelent idea to make your muscles really strong so you would be stronger longer.
I feel so bad for people with this disease...it breaks my heart.
I really hope more reaserch can be done to cure this heart breaking disease...
