YIPPEEE!!! I'M FIRST!!

Yesterday was the last time I consumed bottled water. I did not recycle the container, I should have though. My family does recycle soda cans and other related containers, but we are not actively involved in the Dutchess program. I think that if water bottles and tea bottles required a 5 or 10 cent deposit more people would recycle them, thus they should require a deposit. It will definitely get more people to recycle.

Hi everyone! Ok i'm consuming a bottled water now. he he. Well now i cant recycle it because i'm in school and their are no recycable containers. However at home i do because we have a bin to put them in. I'm somewhat involved in recycling at home. I'm by no means a clean freak about it.... but i do put all my plastics in the appropriate bins. I think that water bottles should have deposits on them because it will make people recycle more.

The last time I consumed bottled water was today during biology =]. No, I did not recycle the bottle during school because there is no where to recycle bottles in school. But if there was I would have. The responsibility of recycling in my household is evenly distributed between everyone. If I use something that i can recycle I recycle it, same thing goes for everyone else in my household. The last time I drank bottled water was yesterday only it wasnt regular water, it was vitamin water because I'm hardcore likethat. Idont recycle right away but all my bottles eventually make it into the recycling bin. WHich is when I stop being lazy and get up to do it. So yeah, I guess I am actively involved in recycling but not the dutchess progtam.

Alright so I consumed a bottle of water yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that, and....you get the point. Yes I did recycle the container in the appropriate recycling bin but only after I shoot of the cap. =)

My family does help recycle our plastic bottles in a recycling bin that the town comes to pick up every tuesday of every week. We also take cans and plastic soda bottles to bottle return machines in local supermarkets to help out the environment and get our 5 cents per bottle/can.

I would say it may help to put a 5 or 10 cent deposit on water and tea bottles. More people may take part in recycling if they know they will get some money out of it. But doing this would take all the fun out of twisting and compressing the air inside the bottles and shooting off the caps.

I drank a bottle of water today. I'll use the bottle for the rest of the week, so I haven't recycled it yet.
(and thanks Alex, your brother taught my brother the shooting caps trick...grr...)
Anyway, both myself and my family are involved in the recycling program. My mom drinks a lot of diet coke, so we always recycle the cans and bottles. We bring them to the supermarket for 5 cents per whatever.
I don't really think it matters whether bottles have a five or ten cent deposit. I don't think many people see the incentive in wasting gas to return a bottle for ten cents.

3. i would say i am somewhat active in the Dutchess program, but much less active than other ppl in my family. my parents bring bottles and cans to the supermarket to get the 5cents or whatever amount it is. we also put recycalbes in the recycling bin for the garbage/recycling guys to pick up on whatever day they come. =]

4. i can go both ways on this issue. i agree w. jaclyn and alex in that putting a deposit on bottles would attract more ppl to the recycling process. however i also agree w. alanna in that the gas issue could affect peoples' thoughts on the importance of 5cents per bottle over $3 a gallon.

The last time i drank a bottle of water was.....last weekend. In my house we save up the bottles and recycle them all at once so i should be doing it soon. Yes i am actively involved in the Dutchess program. I think the bottles should a more of a deposit maybe like 50 cent so the more people will want to recycle.

At home, we do recycle plastic, newspapers, cans, you name it. I am somewhat involved with the recycling.

I do think that water bottles should require a 5 or 10 cent deposit because so many more people would recycle leaving more room at dumps for non-recyclable items. This would majorly help the environment, such as the road I live on ( there is always bottles on the side of the road).

I'm currently consuming a bottle of water, and I had another one around 5th period today. I did not recycle that bottle, but now I think I will recycle this one. :) At home, I am involved more than most of my family in the recycling program of Dutchess County. We recycle, but usually just put it in the recycling bin rather than bringing it to the store to get a deposit for it..it's too much work. I think that water bottles and tea bottles should require a 5 or 10 cent deposit. By having a deposit all of the people drinking water would be encouraged to recycle. Plus, the intake of water is so high that it wouldn't matter if they had a deposit because in the end the companies would still make a VERY high profit.

Heya everyone :) Let's follow a water bottle on it's journey through my house! I am currently consuming a bottle of water -slurp- which is one of the many I've had today. When I'm done, the bottle will be washed in the dishwasher and then refilled and put in the fridge. After a few hours/days/weeks, the top will get so that the cap doesn't fit on right, or it leaks, or something like that, and so it will be recycled in the green container that the Town of Wappingers picks up every week or possbily at the supermarket (Often recycled by me). From there, it will be recycled and made into something else, quite possibly a new water bottle.

Now, wasn't that an interesting story? What's that? You fell asleep?! ._."

I strongly believe that the desposit should be placed on all bottles and cans should have a deposit, at least for 5 or 10 cents. Maybe this wouldn't be a big enough incentive for some people, but other people would be encouraged to recycle them. And every person makes a difference!

Bottled water is good. I get thirsty. The bottles are filled with thirst-quenching liquid. And they are portable. And recyclable. Those said, I utilise all potential for a bottle of water. My only active involvement in recycling, however, is recycling. At best, a price imposition would do nothing. At worst, it would adversely affect our economy.

the last time i consumed bottled water was today. i did not recycle the container yet but i am planning to. i am responsible for putting my used bottles in the recycling bin to be carried out and collected by the recycling guys. i think that bottles should have a deposit as an encouragement for more people to be involved in recycling.

I consumed bottled water about 9 months ago cause i don't drink bottled water. I don't remember if i recycled it. I take out the recycle. I think that plastic bottles should have a deposit on them, but not more than five cents because if there is too big of a deposit it will reflect in the price. THis is my link

I consumed a bottle of water today...Yeah I did recycle it. My family isn't really involved, we just recycle our cans and bottles, through those green recycling bins that go with the garbage...and sometimes go to the grocery store and recycle them there. Honestly, I'm not sure if 5-10 cents is much of an incentive to recycle. If someone really doesn't want to recycle, getting a nickel isn't going to change their minds that easily. But it really can't be much higher than that.

today was the last time i consumed bottle water. I did recycle it. I am not deeply involved but i put it in a green container and the recycling truck gets it. I think people shoudl recycle on thier own without being bribed but it probably won't happen. so they should have a big tax on it.

Hmm, last time I had a bottle of water. Well, since I find the taste of, or lack of taste, of water rather untasteful, I usually just drink flavored liquids. And When I do drink water, I use a refillable apparatus. So I'd have to say sometime last year. And probably not, due to convenience trash receptacles opposed to means of transport to a recycling bin (aka, it was probably easier to throw it out then carry it around)
I take the garbage, and thus the recyling bin out to the conner, so yes, I would say that I am "ACTIVELY INVOLVED at home in the recycling program of Dutchess County." However, I must admit I rarely bring a bottle or can home (unless I could get money for it!)
I do believe that non-carbonated drinks should also have a deposit. And If the purchasers of the drinks still throw them out, then there loss. Not to mention this would allow for the homeless who collect deposits to get more and more readily available amounts of money.

The last time i consumed a bottled water was about five minutes ago. Honestly, i did not recycle it. We are not activly involved with the dutchess county recycling. The bottles and such should have a little higher deposit price so more people would recycle them to get the change back.

Every day during lunch I buy a bottle of water, But I could not recycle the bottle because our school does not have recycling for bottles. I am actively envolved with recycling my my house I am in charge of most of the stores.I think bottles and tea bottles should require a a five cent or ten cent return because then more people would want to recycle, more people would want to return bottles to get some of their money back.

hmm the last bottle i consumed a bottle of water was probably a couple of hours ago.

I did not recycle it, i kinda just left it on my table but it will get recycled int eh near future. I was just to laxy to walk outside to put it inthe Royal Co. green box i have. SOmetimes i recycle i do usually if i am in a "cleaning" mood cuz i get in those sometimes i dont knwo why, and i will never fully understan either, then i will pick up all the empty water bottles/cans around my house and put them in that green bucket i was talking abotu before. SOmetimes i do go to the store with my dad usually and recycle a huge hefty bag full of cans and recyclebles that we have consumed over the weeks. Other times i dont go....but i liek to go cuz i like the crushing noise =] but it also makes my hands sticky =/
I also think ther should be a 5cent or maybe even 10 cent deposit on water because so many people drink water and maybe more people will recycle them if they do.

lol this will sound stupid, but ihavent had bottled water for like a year or two i just use a water bottle (lol its orange). but for every thing alse that i drink or anything that is recyclable i make sure that it gets recycled (yea im one of those freaks):) for a while i used to go and exchange the bottles for the 5 cents deposit now we just recycle at my mom's work. i think that if there was a higher deposit on things then maybe other people might get involved more with recycling.

Ok so i drank like 4 bottles of water at my baseball game yesterday and i actually didnt recycle them(their stillm in my bag) but i couldnt recycle them at the field so i will put them in the recycle bin at my house. And everybody recycles in my house. I do think that there should be a 5 or 10 cent deposit, this will make more people recycle.
