Biology Is Life !

I would not want to live in gattaca because people don't accept you if your DNA was abnormal. You basically need to be perfect if you want to be successful there and thats not fair.
2 positive:
-You could find out if there was somthing wrong with you right away
-it would be easier to stay healthy because everyone would always be checked.
2 negative:
- you wouldnt be accepted if you were abnormal
- it would be hard for you to get a good job
 

i wouldn't like to live in Gattaca because though people were healthy, they weren't happy. people weren't accepted when they weren't themselves like Vincent had to change his whole identity just to work. people couldn't follow their dreams and were rejected from work if they were not good enough. their identity would be checked everyday and a drop of blood would be taken from their bodies. i personally don't think it is fair.

2 positive:
people were healthy because selective breeding was more of the option in Gattaca.
the Gattacan world was very advanced in technology and many other thing.
2 negative:
a new type of discrimination was created against the normal.
people had to change their identities to fulfill their dreams.
 

i would not like to live in gattaca because everyone seems so unhappy even though parents have the opportunity to make their babies as good looking and healthy as possible.

~technology is very advanced
~good health is taken very seriously.

2 Negative:
~not everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their goals.
~everything seems so boring
 

I would NOT like to live in Gattaca, because throughout the movie i was extremely aware of the sort of emptiness and listlesness of life in their reality. I think it would be depressing.

two positive things:

-they had really advanced technology which I guess is pretty cool.

- you could choose for your child to be disese free =]

two negative things:

-so much [pretty much all] of your life depended on your DNA.

- most things were predetermined.
 

I would not like to live in GATTACA because you are discriminated against if you are not perfect.

2 positive-
-you know if you will get any diseaes as you grow.
-alot of advanced technology.

2 negative
-you know about the age you die so u wait and wait and hop that day doesnt come
-if you dont have perfect DNA you are discriminated against

I would not want to live in Gattaca because everything is so predictable and repeteive. It seems as if anyhting everyone is more hostile and restrained too with ebing able to test DNA so easily.

positive:
-the advanced technology
-it is harder to get away with fraud(which kinda invades prvacy....but still most of the time it is good.)

negative:
-everyhting is predicatable, people know when they are going to die! how depressing is that...
-people base who they are going to marry by their DNA

i agree with everyone else on their positives and negatives too..

I would not like to live in GATTACA because-like most said-they seemed to live such an unhappy life. You had to be perfect and you were forced to use and accept new technology. If you didnt, you couldnt succeed. Its not like I could be like-well im just not going to use this technology because I think its immoral to pick my childrens traits. If you do that, your child will not be perfect like everyone else in society. To be successful and to follow you dreams you had to be perfect.
Pros-
1. Technology was advanced and you could find out your sickness and how to cure it(if there is a cure) right away, and security was very high
2. It's really clean which allows for good health!-which is always good=)
Cons-
1. extreme amounts of pressure if you weren't perfect=/
2. you couldnt always fufill your dremas if your DNA wasn't perfect and you getting you job was based on DNA as apposed to just skill and drive

I would not like to live in Gattaca because of the way people were prejudged. People could do much more than what science expects them to do, some things can not be measured. These things include qualities like your will and your desire for something.

2 Positives were:

1) How much science has improved to help people

2) People were able to have more resources available to them to reach their goals

2 Negatives were:

1) People discriminated others because of their DNA

2) People were limited at birth to certain things "science" said they could do.
 

I wouldnt like to live in gattaca. There are too many opportunities for let down and disappointment with all the things such as selective breeding. It would especially be horrible to have to be in the position of ?anton? and go through great troubles in portraying someone else, just to follow your dream.

Positives:
-knowing someone's life expectancy, able to know overall health at birth
-because of that, it'd be an advantage for employers, as in the space program, being able to choose thebest candidates for a job

Negatives:
-discrimination in getting jobs due to POSSIBLE diseases you may acquire
-having everything laid out for you-like knowing your whole life in advance, basically your destiny determined by probable health
 

Hm, apparently no one in my class wants to live in GATTACA.
I probably wouldnt either, but just because it seemed boring after awhile.

The Positive
- The selective genetics, and ability to detect a sickness.
- The extremely advanced technology.

The Negeative
- Most people who were not "perfect" were looked down upon in society.
- Your finger has to be pricked everyday at the workplace (personally i couldnt take that everyday)
 

i would like to live in gattaca only if i was one of the "perfect" people. it would be nice to be good at everything and for the most part healthy.
most people are "perfect" and security would be easier
some people couldn't get good jobs because they weren't normal and they wouldn't be accepted either

I would NOT like to live in Gattaca because every flaw is picked out and supersized. One gene can keep you from your dreams.

-Reduction Of diseases
-Future problems can be predicted and fixed.
2Negative
-Any little thing can keep you from doing a job
-you know your fate, which no matter how great you are, you also know your end, and you end up worrying over it
 

-Personally I would not like to live in Gattaca. This is not an easy place to follow your dreams. Unless you are the stereotypical "perfect," than you don't have any chance of initiating these goals.
-Two positives of living in Gattaca are that illness would not be spread very easily, and it was very technologically advanced. The technology they had was remarkable.
-Two negatives about living in Gattace are that unless you are "perfect," you do not not belong, and there wasn't any variety. Everyone resembled everyone else.
