HEY! I'M FIRST!
If I keep living how I am now...6 Earths would be needed to keep up my 'carbon lifestyle'! That's a TON of carbon mann! I was really surprised by my lifestyle!! I thought I was eco friendly...urg! Now I have to go hug a tree! I fit right in with the Australian average. They have the same size foot as me!!!hehe. One organization I found that is working to preserve the enviornment is SOS. They interested me because they organized Live Earth concert...and I'm a music geek! They use anything from music to short films to books to alert people about climate crisis'. It's headed by President Kevin Wall and Vice President Al Gore! To decrease the size of my carbon footprint, I can unplug unused appliances like my curling iron I dont have time to use ever and my DVD player that conviniently broke the week I need it to work. I can also recycle more often and use more eco-friendly appliances.

Right now, according to Bigfoot Interactive, I would need seven earths to sustain my lifestyle. According to the Nature Conservatory calculator, I am responsible for 6.9 TONS of carbon per year. My family is responsible for 24. I was shocked when I found out how much I'm contributing to global warming- however I am pleased that I am better than the average American by a lot. My carbon footprint is, however, a bit larger than the average Australian's... hmmm wonder how THAT happened... anyway the organization i researched is the Gulf Coast Preservation organization. Originally I looked at it because I thought it meant the Persian Gulf, which would be a bit ironic considering the state of "war" we're in. When I found out it was the Gulf of Mexico, however, I was thouroughly intruiged. The photos on the site are BEA-Utiful. Also, they have a fantastic quote running along the top- "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world."
I wonder which small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens meets for bio every day at fourth period (and occasionaly third). I think our class should start a long term project to fight global warming. Personaly, I can become more energy efficien and stop throwing out my water bottles during the day :-)

I would need 5 Earths if I keep living the way I do. I was really surprisde because I really think I try to reserve the Earth's resources. The average Australian would have to have 6 Earths. I chose the Green Cross because thye work to get every aspect of the enviromaent better. I could use the air conditioner and hearter less. I could stop using all my hair apliances like a culing iron, blowdryer, straightner, and crimper. I use a lot of stuff in my hair Wow!

Yeah, im pretty surprised at my non sustainable lifestyle. im basically the same as the Austalian average.One organization preserving the environment are the United States Environmental Protection Agency. They help protect our environemnt.They give people information on how to help save our earth. To lessen my carbon footprint i can recycle more and use less electricity. by doing that ill be able to help our environment.
 

if i keep living the way that i am now i would need 5.5 earths to sustain the ammount of carbon that i use. i was a little over the U.S. average of carbon used. i wasnt really surprised by the ammount i used because i am not very eco friendly. the one organization that i found was conservation international. i chose this organization because they include everyday things that you can do to help the environment, you can calculate you eco footprint, receive newsletters from them ,and they have live events that you can go to if you are a serious conservationist. to make the ammount of carbon that i use decrease i can use energy efficient appliances, recylce, eat organic foods,and i can rid the use of harmful chemicals such as things inside and arisol can.

It has really great info on how to reduce the amount of energy you use and how to become more eco-friendly. I think that this website is good because it give info about how to be more eco-friendly in so many areas of life. I can do so many things to become more eco-friendly, such as cut down on my appliance use, take shorter showers, turn off lights when i'm not in the room and start to recycle.
 

Based on Big Foot Interactive, it would take 6 earths to keep my present "carbon lifestyle." No I was not surprised about the non-sustainable life that I live. I know what I do and do not do. My estimate greenhouse emissions were 20 tons of carbon dioxide, while the average United States person's emissions are 27 tons of carbon dioxide. I chose the 3 month biomedical waste cleanup in San Juan, Puerto Rico, because I think it is good that crews are actually getting rid of the wastes instead of leaving it there to mess up the environment. To lessen my carbon footprint, I can conserve more energy, and I can also limit my traveling by car. I can also use things twice. I can probably unplug my straightener when I'm not using it. yea i'll do that...=]

Wow my results for this carbon footprint quiz scare me! Shockingly, it would take 10 earths to provide all the natural resources needed to keep me living the way I’m accustomed to now…crazy, I know. Was I surprised? Of course, I was! I always thought I was eco-friendly, but I guess I thought wrong. 100,000 square meters of land being wasted is bogus. The information at the end of the quiz was also very shocking. By 2050, each person on the planet will only be able to use 1.2 hectares. Yowzerz…people better start becoming energy efficient. I was way above the Australian average, which was 10 hectares. And I was tremendously above the world average which was only 2.5 hectares. To lessen my carbon footprint, I can stop using my flat iron and blow dryer every day. Replacing my regular light bulbs with fluorescent ones will also decrease pollution. Turning off the air-conditioning and heater when no one is the house will also preserve energy.

I chose this website because it discusses what companies and office buildings can do to lessen their use of energy. And let’s face it, there are numerous office buildings. Just look at New York City alone!
 

ok so i would need 6 earths, and i wasn't really surprised that i contribute to global warming, because i think that weather or not we try to, we all do a little.I think i'm the same as the Australian thing, but i dont really understand the question. I chose World Environmental because it helps globally, but it also helps in your community. i think i could use less lights and watch tv less in order to conserve. there's definitely things we could all do to help our world
 

i was not suprised at my lifestyle. My family is only responsible for 20 tons of carbon a year that is below the avergae.Waste management is involved in preserving the environment. They use recycling to help preserve the earth. As and idividual i can recylce and use less energy to help save the environment
 

If i kept living it would take me 7 earths to keep up with my lifestyle. THATS NOT GOOD. I was really surprised, I thought i was enviromentally friendly. I'm above the australian average. To decrease my footprint i could turn off more unused stuff and recycle more. I found an organization called EarthCorps. It restores the enviroment and educates people about whats happening to the enviroment.
 

Dear sweet Moses! It would take 11 Earths to keep up with my lifestyle! Im a bit shocked at this figure, considering that my family and I are very conservative. Compared to Australians, my carbon footprint is 9 MORE HECTARES! Those Australians beat me again! The Natural Resoures Defense Council is a non-profit enviromental orginaztion that supports conservation of the enviroment. They even flie law suits when a corporation violates the Clean-Air Act or the Clean-Water Act. Let's see......to decrease the size of my carbon footpring.......I should really stop leaving lights on when I leave a room. And recycle more. And maybe even one day buy on of those BMW Hyrdo-7s. I think that'd be nice. ;)

HOLY CANOLI!!!!! It says that my footprint is 15 hectares and my footprint is 1.5 times larger than an ausralien footprint. I would need 9 worlds in......i might lose elecricity. i would have to say im suprised, my foot is only about a foot big, i dont get how they got 15 hectares.. lol. I think that i could eat locally grown food and consetve more energy in order to decrease the sixze of my footprint.

Wow, it would take 6 earths to supprt my carbon lifestyle. That is crazy since i like recycle and stuff. i am very surprised and i want to go out right now and buy all the energy efficient appliances. Compared to the Australian footprint i have one more hectare which is 11. An orhanization that i found that helps prevent unfriendly envirometal waste. They are called aa and they are a non-profit group who are cleaning our earth step by step. They also serve childcare centers and various schools. I am interested in this group because they are talking to kids about our global sitution. I believe this is good because these kids are our future and our only hope of the survival of our species. In order to lessen my carbon footprint i will run to school so that i dont take the bus which uses diesel which is the worst type of greenhouse gas. running wouldnt bother me cause im on the cross crountry team so itll be good for me. I will also buy energy efficient electronics and appliances. This is very important to me now that this has been brought to my attention so i will try with all of my energy to preserve some of our eearth's natural resources and make it cleaner.

This website interested me because I found a lot of different ways to help preserve our environment. To lessen my carbon footprint I can use less electricity, use less water, use less appliances, recycle more, and clean up my planet.

To keep my present life style I would need 6 earths. I was not very suprised because I know that i dont contribute that mcuh besides recycling, because I do not really focus on that. I was below the american average with an 81, and i was above the australian average with 11 hectares.This site is a supporter of saving the earth.
As an individual, I can help this because I can encourage my family to recycle more and use more energy efficient products.
 

HEY HIPPIE =] Well... By using Bigfoot Interactive I discovered that I would require 6 Earths to sustain my current lifestyle. I was actually suprised by the size of my "footprint", because my family has taken steps to conserve waste and energy. My dad is also an engineer who deals with natural gas and electricty and is always reminding my family to pay closer attention to our use of energy. I would demand at least 11 hectacres based on my present living situation. This is one hectacre above the Australian average. The organization which I chose to investigate was The League of Conservation Voters. This specific group intrigued me, because they use politics to fight environmental issues. LCV uses strong political candidates to run against anti-environmentalists and voice the silent ( or not so silent) protests of the environment. I believe this is extremely effective in today's world, as politics encompasses many aspects of our life, and will undoubtedly gain attention. Several things I can do to preserve our world is recycle more, turn off appliances that aren't in use, take shorter showers, and not keep the heater/AC so high/low.
 

Hello everyone, mudd here, I will start off by saying that i belive global warming is exaggerated and many politicians or authors lie about the subject. Anyway, my carbon footprint is apparently 11 hectares which is one more hectare than the Australian average. I would also need 6 earths to keep my present lifestyle. I'm not quite sure what you mean by saying my "non-sustainable" lifestyle, if u mean by the fact that i would need 6 earths, then i am slightly surprised, however they don't say how long i would be able to last with my lifestyle until i would need more Earths. I think i could definitely contribute to helping the environment because i do think preserving Earth is partially the humans fault. I could refill my water bottles which i go through rapidly rather then buying new packs of them, i could also not use plastic cups,plates,forks,knives, etc. I chose this site because it does shows facts i do believe and it shows many ways to help our environment in an easy simple way, so anyone can do it,

Yeah, when I was a kid in the sixties I wore my ecology button and learned about "pollution" (littering and killing the fishies and stuff) ..imagine if my generation didn't at least do that, you might all be swimming in garbage...here's how I see it, yes this issue is being used and abused for political gain, yes, it is often exaggerated and facts are often ignored - but it is raising awareness. I believe that a good part of global warming isn't warming at all - (remember the ice age of the seventies????) - I think most of it is media hype; I think a great deal of it is the weather doing its' thing, that it cycles and does disastrous stuff, only we didn't have 24/7 news coverage and doppler radar a hundred years ago to stress us out...I also think it's so scary that we human control freaks want to try to find a way to stop it! (Maybe it's just the powers that be controlling the population).HOWEVER, anything that is good for our planet can't hurt. Conservation, alternative fuels, etc., just taking care of our planet can only help. I don't know if it can prevent a massive hurricane (or insure proper levees are built, or stop stupid people from putting houses near the ocean or in places prone to mudslides and wildfires)but it certainly can help us breathe easier and leave some good stuff for future generations. It would be nice if more coverage was given to scientists who don't necessarily believe man contributed totally to global warming or if there truly is any global warming at all. I do think man takes our planet for granted and has not treated it well and I am happy to see kids are starting to care - hopefully it's not just all talk and rock concerts though. Perhaps if the media didn't go to the extreme no one would be making any effort at all. Hopefully some real lifestyle changes are implemented.(as well as governmental changes in policies)..that's all...I'm gonna go look for my old ecology stickers and peace buttons now... tomorrow should be sunny and pleasant, global perfection, at least in Wappingers.

I just took the quiz and found out that I use about 9.1 tons of carbon dioxide a year! I also found out that my family uses about 100 tons of carbon dioxide in a year. I think that is mostly due to the fact that my parents are always driving me and my siblings everywhere. That is one of the things I think we should work on because gas prices are only getting higher! We can also unplug electronic things when we are not using them. Alright so it took me a little while to find out where the quiz was, but I found it and my carbon footprint was like 11 hectares and I would need 6 earhs. I wasn't that surprised because don't really do anything to conserve energy so if anything I was surprised that it was only 6 earths (I know that sounds bad).
I was one more hectare than the average australian person. I beleive that as an induvidual, I can try to recycle more and eat more organic food because I do like it. I hope to help make the earth a better place because I know every little thing can help. Okay so the website I chose off of google was http://www.preservetheland.net/home.htm. It would take 7 Earths to keept my present carbon lifestyle. I wasnt very surprised because I use a lot of appliances, sometimes forget to turn things off, and I use too much hot water. I exceed the the Australian average. I chose this site because the organizations does work to restore parks and they are involved in other environmental projects. To lessen my carbon footprint....i can take shorter showers, remember to turn off the lights, and recycle more.

According to the Australian site, I have a carbon footprint of five hectares, which means I would need three earths to continue my lifestyle. I was not really surprised about my lifestyle. The Australian average of 10 hectares is, however, very surprising. Young Preservationists is an organization that helps kids become more "green". To decrease my carbon footprint, I could decrease the amount of garbage I produce, or spend less time traveling in the car. On the topic of global warming, I do not believe that humans cause it or can control it in any way. I believe that that the increase in heat is part of a continuing cycle of temperature change. It is not going to stop if we all spring for ridiculously expensive cars that run on corn or become a “green maniac.” The topic of global warming is mainly a political tool. Here’s a fun fact; Al Gore’s MANSION uses more electricity as some small towns. There is no way he is going to convince me to give up ANYTHING the way he acts..

SO to keep my current lifestyle we would need five earths. WOW!I was not too suprised but I still want to change.My average is lower than the Ausrtailian average but is still a lot higher than the USA's.OMG!! How is that possible that the USA ONLY has an average of 2.5 hectares. That is so not true.Us as students are young and persussive so we can doo alot of this like take the bus and car pool more, or even better ride your bike or walk places.

my contribution is WAY high...

i have no paper products in my home, old clothing and towels become rags for cleaning and act as a "substitute" for paper towels, i use cloth napkins always, i recycle everything, i will use one plastic bag multiple times... my home is warm in the summer, and cool in the winter, lights out unless i am present, i live in a village and walk places often...

but sadly for my carbon footprint i travel in planes 3 to 5 times a year. usually 3 of my round trip flights are 9 or more hours in length.
that makes me a carbon hog.
