I learned that CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. Currently there are 172 parties that are involved with this organization. CITES lists the cheetah as an endagered animal. I chose this organsim becuase it is the world's fastest land animal and the most unique and specialized member of the cat family. Its habitat is being destroyed by humans and there is also the problem of poachers. The Cheetah Conservation Fund helps raise money to cover the costs of raising orphaned, old, or injured cheetahs.

(lol) but yes the fur is very valuable and thats partly why this animal is endangered. click me!!!!
 

I learned that C.I.T.E.S. is an international agreement between governments to help ensure that when plants and animals are traded that they don't threaten their survival. I chose the Siberian Tiger because it is becoming nearly extinct because of poachers and the destroying of its habitat. It also is smart (for an animal, that is) the tiger can swim, this is useful because it can survive in floods because of this skill. This animal is beautiful and is being hunted for numerous reasons. Two being for their skin and for medical reasons.

The giant panda is listed as an endangered species. I chose the panda because 1-it's adorable and 2-I want future generations of people to be able to see unique animals like pandas... and polar bears... and poison dart frogs... well you get the idea!!!This organization has created a Species Survival Plan for the giant panda. :):):)
 

I learned that CITES is a program between goverments and societies to help the preservation of our endangered animals. Many of our animals throughout this world are very close to being extinct, and CITES is trying to stop this. I belive CITES is a very benifitial program for everyone, even thought it may not seem like it. Adventually, if a main animal goes extinct it could corrupt the whole enitre food chain, the results could be devastating. I chose the Barbary Ape because I know there are many species of apes and monkeys going extinct. I think apes are one of the most interesting and unique animals in the world, and we can really learn a lot from them. Here is a site on the preservation of apes.

CITEs shows the bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus)as an endangered species. i chose the bald eagle becuase it used many times to symbolize america it also symbloized good vs evil

From C.I.T.E.S., I learned that there are many, many, many, more endangered species of mammals than I had ever thought there was. C.I.T.E.S. is an organization that's aim is to ensure that the trade of animals and plants does not thearten their own survival.
I chose the Malayan Pangolin because I think that it is very interesting. It looks like a cross between a rodent and a reptile which I find pretty cool. These little guys are usually traded on the black market. They are quite harmless and cannot really do anything to prevent their capture. They are just like small, plate (scale) covored ant eaters, that hang aorund in trees all day. They don't grow to be very big, and they are trying to live their lives just like everyone else. They're endanged though, because they hunt it for it's skin to make leather, it's scales to make medicine, and it's body for meat. These little guys can't protect themselves, so it is our job to help protect them.

And also, i personally think flesh-tearing, meat-eating machines are pretty cool.

Their job is to ensure that international trade of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. One animal on the endangered species list is the Black-handed Spider Monkey. I chose this animal because it had an exotic and interesting name. They are very endangered because they are a source of food for South American people. They are easily hunted by these people because of their noisy habits and large groups. CREW is an organization that is helping bring the Black-handed Spider Monkey out of the endangered list. This organization is also helping preserve many other endangered animals.

Another endangered species is the Sea Otter!!! It has greatly decreased greatly over the years since its fur is highly valued.

I chose the Parma Wallaby as my organism because they are adorable, number one, and number two, they're from New Zealand, which is a place that I'd love to visit someday. I choose the gorilla because i find it cute but at the same time kind of scary. Also because it is one of the/ the largest Primate. The male grows to be 600 pounds, that is hugee.The is peaceful animal that is sociable.

After reading the site C.I.T.E.S, I found out just how many animals are endagered. I was not really surprised by the number (thousnads and thousands) that I saw because today, not many people are taking action to help these animals. The animal I chose was the Northern Bottlenose Whale. I chose this animal because I did not know there were such things as bottlenosed whales, I thought that there were only bottlenosed dolphins. I thought that thatwas an interesting fact.
