i think that the use of these animals as guinea pigs is ethical because they are makin their life for the better and giving them the ability to live longer. i dont think that were are close to being able to do it to humans because we are just using them on mice .. we cant go from mice to humans that quickly. i think that the creation of some sort of super human would be unethical. one posotive things is that it might be able to help sick people with some disabilities with their limbs and musceles. the new human would make sports uunfair for all of the normal athletes. I think using animals as genetic guinea pigs is ethical. Although it may harm the animal, it is for the better of the world. It allows for more research in science that improves our lives. I think people who disagree with animal testing need to think about the bigger picture. I do not believe we have the ability to alter human muscle yet but i think science is definitely making a lot of progress and in the near future we will be able to alter human muscle. i think the creation of the new human would be ethical and moral. Personally i don't see anything wrong with it. If we do succeed and are able to alter human muscle it will become some sort of trend. it will eventually become a normal thing like plastic surgery. People will start to adapt to the altercation and it will just become another procedure people can do to change themselves. Besides, altering human muscles will give people with weak limbs a chance to be strong again. the only bad thing is that everyone can be an athlete. But i think original athletes who were good at sports without the muscle alteration will still be admired.
i believe there will be a definite attitude change towards every sport after muscle alteration becomes mainstream. people will still watch sports and everything but i think people who have received muscle alteration and participate in competitions will be frowned upon.

I think that use using animals for genetic guinea pigs is okay. It's not like the animal rights stuff. This is actually helping the mouse. I think, at this rate, that within years scientists will have a way to alter human muscles...weirdness! I don't think using it on a human is ethical(my link)
though, thats for sure! I mean..Mighty Mouse is one thing But Mighty Human?? Doesn't sound ethical to me!
One positive of this discovery would be helping people suffering from muscular disabilities. A negative is that everyone will want to do whatver they can to be a "super human." Sports would become unfair or boring. Well, more boring anyways. It could lead us to new links within medicine though. That's always a postitive!

I think that the use of these animals are ethical because they are helping them. They are also really close to be able to do this for humans and that would be a huge accomplishment. I think that the creation of the "new human" is ethical. One positive thing is that we are moving closer to being able to do this to humans and one negative thing is that we are using animals as experiments.

I believe that the study and usage of this "Mighty Mouse", is borderline ethical. I think it could still be considered ethical because it is in fact "helping" the mouse. However, when you think about it, how many mice did they harm or kill in the process of this research??? Just something to think about...I believe that we are close to creating a "Mighty Human" at the rate that science is progressing these days, and I believe that such a development would be unquestionably unmoral. Without a doubt i would say the line has to be drawn before a "Mighty Human". Whether you are religious or not, by altering genetics, you are messing with creation. Each of us are different. Once we begin to mess with genetics, we begin to mess with our individuality. In a sense, you could be creating "robots" programmed to have the traits you want them to. I believe not only is this concept incredibly immoral, its scary. Sure you could make humans more efficent/ more productive/ the ideal species, but at what cost... you are creating almost another race, in a lab no less!!! This type of gene testing is beneficial because it could potentially allow us to restore the muscles of people who have disorders affecting the use of their muscles. Unfortunately, we are using animals as test subjects, which is immoral, and on top of that, we are meddling in dangerous borderline immoral areas. A mighty human would easily improve health and such things like care for the elderly, but it would seriously destroy other things. For instance, sports and individuality would be completely destroyed, because people could literally be " making themselves better" in a lab. I for one, find the idea absolutely revolting.

1.Yes it's ethical.
2.Yes, it's possible.
3. It depends if there is any sort of bad side effect.
4.It could make a human healther but he would consume more food.
5.For sports, it might be unfair. I'm not sure if it can be entertaining. But it can help the elderly for those that have weak muscles.

i think that the idea of gene splicing on these mice was a great discovery. I think that one day we can use it on human. Unlike some of my peers i think being a super human would be a step up look at the positives live longer, you become stronger and more energetic. I just see no done side maybe it will affect humans more then lab mice but we are looking towards the future with this project.
I don’t’ see what the problem is with using an animal as a “genetic Guinea pig.” As long as the animal isn’t being harmed in any way shape or form then why not? If altering a mouse’s genes will help scientists later develop methods to repair human muscle pain then, yes using animals is an excellent idea. I’m not sure how far science has gotten so far, but from watching the video scientists were able to strengthen the mouse’s muscles, therefore making it last longer on the treadmill. If scientists have figured this out then they are one step closer to finding the technology to alter human muscles. Therefore, I would have to say that we are closer to changing our muscles tissue. The creation of that “new human” would be moral and ethical in my opinion because we aren’t harming anything in the body. We are simply changing. I mean, if we alter one’s genes to help them, then that would be positive. We aren’t harming anything or anyone. Positives of altering the genes of a human include the higher rate of repair for one’s muscle tissue. Negatives include bothering the poor little animal by wasting all its time in a laboratory and using it as an experiment when it can be free in the wild. That new human would have a major advantage over his other teammates due to his extraordinary muscles. Medicine would take a GINORMOUS step in advancement. Scientists would now be searching for ways to maybe create “perfect health” or medicine that can cure anything. Life on the planet would be very different. I don’t think we would be seeing major sicknesses that much anymore if alteration of genes was being practiced. As for the elders, things would be looking pretty positive. Science would be able to make their old, weary muscles strong and mighty!

I think that the use of an animal as a "genetic Guinea pig" is ethical. I think that we are close to having the ability to alter human muscles using a similar technique. The creation of a "new human" would not be moral but it would be ethical. A positive in this would be the ability to do it on humans. A negative for this would be sacrificing the animals to achieve it. The "new human" would rule sports, cause chaos in the medicine world, cause life to change on the planet, and would cause less care for the elderly.
Human Gentic Altering
Human Gentic Altering
i think that this is ok because they're stronger and they can live longer. i think we are close to being able to make it in humans beecause we've come this far with mice, and science is just crazy these days. I think that the "new human" wouldnt be ethical because it might be like a normal person and they would just be studied all the time and wouldnt be able to really live. One positive thing is that sick people would be able to be stronger, but sports would be totally wrong and unfair. life would be i think faster, but it would be weird because theres more food consumed, and some people are starving now. the elderly would live longer and be stronger.
Ninja here! I think the use of an animal as a "genetic guinea pig" is ethical because it helps us understand more about genes and how they affect every aspect of us. I think we are very close to having the ability to alter human muscles and other genes. Link.
However, the creation of a new "super human" is unethical. We are altering the genes of a human to just make them better.
A good effect of genetic manipulation is the possible regeneration of muscle and nerve cells of one who has been injured or crippled.
A bad effect of genetic manipulation is the conflicts with many activists groups and the unethical aspects that it would bring up.
New Human Effects
Sports: The super human would excel in sports greatly. This is borderline cheating at best and would break standards for fair play.
Medicine: The new human would have genes that could make it possible to regenerate lost cells or nerves in a person that has been crippled or injured.
Life on the Planet: Other than protests and activist groups, I don't think the new human would affect it that much on an intellectual basis.
Care for the Elderly: I don't have any clue why a new human would have a different way of caring for the elderly. Unless it has something to do with genes and stuff like I stated in the medicine section.
And there's my opinion!
"I am a worlds forgotten boy.
The one who searches and destroys."

I think that using the mice as guinea pigs is ethical because they arent harming them, they are just in a different environment. I dont think we have the ablity to alter human muscles yet but i think that we are getting closer. In general i think the creation of a new human would be unethical, but i think there could be some health related exceptions. A positive use is that it can increase life spans. a negative use is that people could abuse the gene manipulation and do it to make them faster and stronger. the "new human" would affect sports because athletes would be a lot faster. it would affect the elderly because their muscles would be stronger.

I think that using animals for genetic research is an ethical thing to do. I don't think that we are anywhere near close enough to start altering the genetic makeup of humans safely. There is a huge difference between mouse genetics and human genetics...a lot more research needs to be done before we try that. I don't think that the creation of a new human is a great idea. I feel like if we make a "superhuman" in the future, then research could lead to much more dangerous things. It could push the limits of science all together.
one positive things about genentic manipulation is that it could help in other areas of medicine, such as curing cancer and other things. A bad thing is that it couold always get out of hand, and once you alter the genetic makeup of a person, once they are actually alive you can't change them back genetically. click it up and read about the website i chose to support my answer on the topic! =]

This is sooo Wrong.A mouse is a mouse to be a mouse not a cheetah mouse. If god wanted a cheetah mouse he would have made a cheetah mouse. And NOOOOOO it SHOULD NOT be done to humans. If it happens then any sport or anything would become unethical and wrong. People with money would have an unfair advantage over people with less money. I couldn't find a website on how its WRONG but heres a website on the experiment in general
So here it is
catch you on the flip side!!!

P.S. ITS WRONG!!!!

I dont think that experimenting with the mice is ethical. the mouse didnt ask for it. people are always talking about the golden rule, and scientists are splicing the genes of mice, ironic huh? I do think that we are on the breakthrough of being able to alter human genes. I dont thnk that making a new human is ethical. i believe in god so i think that he made each and everyone of us the way he wanted us to be. one postitve thing about this is that we may soon identify the cancer gene and well be able to fix that. but one negative thing is in sports, people are taking steroids soon theyll be genetically altering themselves to perofrm better. My website is a Q and A about differeent things in gene splicing.
1. Yes because it gives an idea how they can make a living organism stronger, smarter or any other characteristic in order to make life better for it.
2. Yes, i think we are very close. I think that a rat are more similar than we care or want to know. But i certainly think it will be possible within the next 20 years or so.
3. i think it would be ethical
4. The positive is everyone will be able to perform better and basically be a super human and no one would ever make a mistake
the negative is that we'll be like robots and there will be no competition.
5. Everyone in every sport will be equally talented, people would probably think of every cure to treat diseases and such, our planet would be overpopulated and boring. Our elderly would never dieand may actually become younger.

I think the idea of "mighty mouse" is amazing. I think it is ethical to use a mouse to test genetic experiments on because the only way to advance is to try new things. And im sorry to all you PETA freaks out there but it't better to test it on a mouse then one of us. As far as using this gene splicing method on humans, i think it would be amazing to do that but i wouldn't try so soon. Having a "super human" would be amazing since there are already people like lance armstrong who have amazing stamina which apparently can be increased. I would love to be one of those people. however im not sure if it is ethical. God put us here the way we are and messing around with are genes might be going a little too far. However we change just about everything else in our lives and we alter ourselves in many other ways so this might not be un ethical, just an opinion on if you would like to be kept how you were meant to be. I do not really think it is ethical, atleast not on humans. This probably has some obvious negetives to it such as possible death since no one knows how the human body would react to that amount of stress, and how the DNA and any thing else could be altered in the body and how future generations could possibly be altered. On the other hand, this could be just a huge scientific advancement and we are now able to do much more with our bodies. Sports would be completely different though, and since this amount of endurance is not needed in sports right now since normal un mutated athletes paly them, basically anyone could be a pro athlete if they had a decent amount of skill in the sport. Unless of course sports were chaned and rather than the normal 4 quarters in a football game, it was changed to something like 8. This would be a major change throughout the country and world and i think would cause more chaos than just fun or competition.
MIGHTY MOUSEE... DUNN DUNN DUNNNNNN
MIGHTY MOUSEE... DUNN DUNN DUNNNNNN
I think using the mice as guinea pigs are all right. I don't see the danger in it. I don't think we're close to using it on humans. I think that we shouldn't because it's wrong and defeats the purpose of living. One positive thing out of this is nothing. If this doesn't change the person whose genes it comes from than theres no use. This doesn't help the physically challenged just makes super humans. The new human would make sports unfair. The new human is much stronger than the average human being. This could solve some medical issues for new born children. It could help prevent autism in the future. The new human would help the elderly with the care and need they desire but us average humans can already do that.
IM IN MY DARK CORNER
IM IN MY DARK CORNER
1. The use of an animal as a "genetic Guinea pig" is not ethical. It is wrong to animals and does not let them defend themselves if they really don’t want to do the experiments. They should not be tortured.
2. I’m pretty sure we have (or are close to having) the ability to alter human muscles using a similar technique. Since gene splicing is so affective already who knows what could happen in a couple of years.
3. The creation of that "new human" would not be moral and ethical. Who knows what the new humans affects will be on other. I do not think that a “new human” is ethical or moral.
4. One positive use of this type of genetic manipulation is that we know from that gene splicing is affective and in some situations does work. One negative use of this type of genetic manipulation is that we do not know the side affects of the genetic manipulation and it could harm the organism.
5. The "new human" would affect sports in many ways. The “new human” would make sports unfair. Not everyone could contain the “new human” advantage and some people could. It would make people unequal and not fair. The "new human" would affect medicine in so many ways. All of the side affects of the “new human” might not be solved yet with our current medicine. Doctors would become less concerned with trying to figure out the sure for cancer and go to the “new human” technology. Life on the planet would change with the "new human" drastically. Some people could possible be stronger, healthier and live longer then others. What about the population growth? How could we keep up with all these people living longer and eating more? The care of the elderly could possible come out for the best. The "new human" could help the elderly by keeping them healthier and more energetic.

The use of an animal as a “genetic Guinea pig” is ethical because although it’s risking harming the animal, it also allows the animal to live a longer and better life. I don’t think that we are even near close to accomplishing the ability to alter human muscles, because we’ve only tested this on animals. And animals, obviously, aren’t humans. I think the creation of a “new human” would be unethical because they would have a slight advantage at everything they do. Life for them would maybe become a competition, and they may constantly feel that they have to prove themselves to people. One positive of this type genetic manipulation is that it could help people with muscular disabilities. One negative use of this type of genetic manipulation is. The “new human” could affect sports by almost naturally becoming amazing at them. They would have extreme advantages in sports. People may be disgusted, disappointed, or even angry at the thought of this “new human” entering into the world of sports. “new humans” can affect medicine because they may need special medicines created for them, to be treated. Life on the planet would seem like a competition. Elderly people that come from the “new human” may need special attention.

I think use of animals for guinea pigs is ethical though the cause of the project is highly dependent.
I would say we could be close to altering human muscles but I guarentee it will take many many years and decades for the idea to be used consistently, or even used much at all.
The creation of a super human with these ideas can be considered ethical for the good of the world. A good thing that could emerge from this sort of experimentation is a strong immune system that is altered to be almost invincible. A bad possibility or perhaps certainty is the issue dwelling on sports.
Many doors could be opened by this very diverse and somewhat complicately more ethically "problem" or perhaps "solution."
A cite that shows the ethical debations and approvements of these type of experiments isshown here.

Mice that are altered don't really have a use. I thnik this becasue other than the fact tfor they can run fast for long amounts of time what is the point? I definately dont think we should attempt or even alter a human. The positive attribute for altering humans would be it ould be a new age to athletic. A negative attribute would be that it could cause serious damage to a human if the altering was messed up.
omg i hate my keyboard. i keep hitting enter inst4ead of shift. i m use my desktop and not my laptop.
The use of the mouse as a guinea pig is fine with me. Those mice probably would have a much better life that all those other mice. No cats to worry about.
Based on the amount of information that is released to the public in things like this, we probably already have the capability to do this to humans.
The creation of the new human would be in NO WAY moral or ethical! If you start messing with nature like that, natures going to start messing with you. Humans should never try to alter themselves like that. If it's not illegal already, it should be.
There are no positives here. If the baby starts developing with muscular diseases, its already to late. You can't genetically manipulate a developed organism.
Unfortunately, this procedure is not lacking in the negative department. A super human would not be able to lead a normal life. He would probably be under supervision by the people who created him. He would have to live with the concept of being "created" by another human. He wouldn't be able to participate in sports. He might as well be on steroids.
If the new human started affecting life on this planet, I simply can't believe that god would let the human race continue. Once we start redoing his work, he's going to stop us.

I think that it is unethical to use them as guinea pigs. I think we can use this on human muscle. Super humans are un ethical. A positive is that a super human can get healthier faster. A negative is it's a surgical descision of steroids. LINK
