2. the only time i would ask my life partner to take the test is if i had cheated on them wit someone and they knew about it and ended up pregnet so i would no who my babys daddy is hahahahahah. Otherwise thats not my business i dont care who they are related to.

1. Yes, I would probably do it. It would be nice to know who I am related to, especially historical figures. I mean, it couldn't hurt to know more about my ancestors and where I came from.

1.I didn't think that I would be interested in taking the test but when I read some articles about it, I changed my mind. You can find out a lot of interesting things about your family and ancestors. I would take the genome test because it could tell me the people I am related to and if a certain disease runs in that family. That would then tell me if I have a possibility of getting or having that disease. It would then give me enought time to figure out what to do and to get help for this disease if I needed it. It would also be cool to know any famous people I am related to.

I would not ask my life partner to do it. It will be their decision and it doesn't matter to me or not if they know who they are related to.

1. I would take the test . It doesn't seem that the test does anyone any harm or has any negative effects, therefor I don't see anything bad that could come from it . It seems as though it could be very interesting, in a sense that you could date ancestry back to 100,000 years ago. You could go all your life not knowing that you have ancestry that dates back to a certain country, and know you have the priveledge to know it .
2. I wouldn't ask my life partner to take the test because hopefully, if they're my life partner, I can trust them and they're my life partner for a reason. I should not have to be making sure that they have other children with other people if I trust them enough.

It explains that you could prevent your children from acquiring lethal diseases and/or illnesses that could be possible through your bloodline. Some cons of the gene testing consist of errors that could occur while in the labratory testing for any mutations. I would take the test. It would be interesting to see where my DNA traced back to in the world and possibly find ancestors that were previously unknown. It doesn't sound like there are any negative effects, so why not?
If i truly trusted my life partner, which is a must if i called them my life partner, then i wouldn't ask them to take the test to find out about their past. If they were hiding something then im sure that i would find out sooner or later. Thats just worst case scenario though.

I would probably take the test... It would be cool to know more about my family tree, and it would be good to know about any health concerns in the family that I should know about.
I shouldn't have to ask them to take the test. We should trust each other enough to be honest with each other. If they wanted to take it, that's fine by me. I would probably take it with them, too.

This site came a bit before this home test kit did, but it has pretty much the same facts as a more recent one. At this point, the scientists are working toward a $1000 genome sequencing. Some human test subjects have volunteered for the research, but scientists don't think it's ready for the general public- the information is available to too many people for comfort. However the benefits such as finding better treatments for diseases are greater than the risks in this case.

I would probably take the test, because I'm sort of curious as to who I'm related to, and what my genetic makeup is. I don't really care if my life partner took the test or not. Yes, I would like to take the home gene test to find out (specifically) where my ancestors came from. Sure, I would ask my life partner to take the gene test just to learn more about our heritage and maybe to check weather they could have hereditary diseases or conditions that may be passed on to children.

Knowing your genome can help predict some illneses which are cureable to an extent. The medication just lowers the risk not cures it. Knowing you passed it to your children could make you feel responsible if they get cancer.
