The biological factor that is causing the resistance in the tundra. LINK this site talks about how resilient that the bacteria is. Also, it talks about how the large increase in use of them does not help the situation. If this happens from a humans perspective more people will be suseptable to dieing and getting very sick without the effectiveness of antibiotices.

1.This resistance is caused by natural selection and random mutations.
2.It talks about the increasing number of antibiotic resistant drugs due to the widespread use of antibiotics. According to their statistics, 2 million get it at a hospial each year. About 90,000 people die from them each year.

I think that a bacteria could have changed in some way in the birds, making it antibiotic resistant. Just Like in humans--if we don't finish out antibiotics, over time our sickness may just become stronger or change slightly every time, making it more difficult to treat.

I think that perhaps the bacteria were surviving by who was best suited to the environment, as some developed this resistance. The resistance grew as bacteria reproduced and now it is fully existent in that bacteria..perhaps.
This site tells about how resistance is rising in some strains of diseases. Like I said, a survival of the fittest type of idea occurred as resistant bacteria would survive if they adapted. This site also shows some steps that can be taken to solve the problem of resistances to antibiotics in certain bacteria.
The problem will have biggest effect on humans altogether, as resistance could cause issues with new vaccines and many people could die. If it becomes a worldly problem, even things such as economy and politics could suffer from resistance to cures from bacteria due to the issues in deaths it may cause.

Well i am not sure if im right, but im guessing that the bird must have picked up a bacteria along the way since Southeast Asia already had antibiotic resistance in it.

It is a relatively simple version but does get the point across. Health care costs might rise due to having to treat more patients in hospitals as those are probably the only chance at living for some illnesses. Health care might also become harder to find because so many more people would need it due to no immunity against these diseases, and no regular antibiotics that work.

I think the biological factor is the enviroment.My site begins by telling you some examples of diseases that over time have become immune to antibiotics. it also says that 70% of all bacteria that cause infections in hospitals have been immune to at least one type of drug used on it. My site also gives a brief history of anitbiotics and a brief history on how organisms have become immune to antibiotics.. If this happenes to humans, we would all be in trouble, because if humans become resistant to antibiotics and new medications havent been created yet, people could die.

Now I'm taking a complete shot in the dark here. I would have to say the biological factor is that the antibiotics in southeast Asia were already causing the bacteria to mutate into resistant strains. When the birds picked them up, they continued to mutate.

Resistant pathogens is a scary thought. It calls to mind the bird flu "epidemic." We need to put much more effort into medicine. Most are probably cureable by some means or another. We just need to discover that cure. The factor would have to be lucky mutations.
