I think it is. I dont think it is. I think it is moralto use. I think supper flue is worse than no crops. I think global worming is a topic of cocern. (http://www.pantagraph.com/articles/2008/03/09/money/doc47d23b7e06f42664130070.txt) Click Here
I think that at the rate of scientific advances today, without knowing anything about the science of it, i believe it could be possible. If by "is it worth continued research?" you mean "is there enough of a possibilty of this working to warrant research?" then yes. however i do not think we should even be researching things like this that i believe are undoubtedly immoral. We could put our energies and funds towards something more pressing then trying to control the weather. Nobody should have the authority to do that. I obviously do not think it is worth the risk of creating a superflu since i disagree with the idea of even using it in the first place. One other problem that is occuring on a global scale is the deforestation of rainforests, which destroy countless resources and animal species. Click Here
OWWW! moved my stupid foot. Stairs and logs are EVIL!! Mac time in 3 weeks. STILL! I want my puppy.

I think that this is pointless research. I think we're spending too much time on little things when there are more devistating things to cure, like AIDS and Cancer. I think that by use trying to control weather, we're wasting time and effort! Not even one is Evan or Bruce Almighty! And everyone knows Evan is WAYYY better. He is married to Lauren H. Graham, my FAVORITE actress eva!
Anyways, i think its moral for people to think "i can control the weather!", but i think it'll only be used to help businesses.
I think the threat of a "super flu" is more important right now. I think if people weren't so greedy, people wouldn't be starving to death. Come on people! you don't need 6 donuts a day!! save some for other people! donate food to shelters or do something...anything!
Another planetary problem is Gilmore Girls being cancelled. I'm STILL angry a year later! lol. jk. I am madd tho.
An environmental problem is SMOG [[funny word mann]]. Smoke is a thick smoke that is caused by pollutants in the air. Present day Los Angeles [[3 years!!!]] suffers severly from this, as did 19th century London.

yes bc i think controllin percipiation is possible and it could help maintain crops. Yeah it would be ethical bc it would help the world, preventingfloods, maitaning crops. I dont think it is good that the basteria could cause sickness. If that is worse than controlling percipitiaion. I think we should really concentrate on prventing global warming
1.Yes it is worth continued research. and yes I think controlling precipitation will be possible in the future.
2.Yes, it would as long as it is used in areas where rain is needed.3.Yes, as long as it is controlled and steps are made to prevent deadly bacteria from being used then it is worth the risk.
4.According to this article, traces of medical drgs are found in our drinking water because they weren't entirely filtered out. I thinnk this is serious because it could cause harm to me and others.

i particularly dont think that the topic is worth continued research. i dont think that we will be able to control the weather any time soon. if it was ever achieved i think that it would be moral to use it because it would help alot of the problems that we have in our world today. i think the risk of a superflu is too great to tamper with harmful bacteria that might help with controlling the weather. one problem that is important to me personally is global warming. this link talks about it LINK
I think that controlling percipitation is possible in the future, as is anything. I do not think research should be devoted to this because there are more important things. Human made weather is absurd.
I do not think it would be right to use human made rain because it is not natural and nobody has that authority. If people are suffering drought, then it is meant to be that way.
I do not think it would be worth it at all. drought has been a problem but new disease is even worse. It is not a good idea to do this.
One environmental problem is Hudson river pollution. This problem is not extremely important to me, but i care about it because it is my home.

I think that controlling precipitation is possible in the future with all the technology we have. BUT i think this is so stupid. We're wasting money and time on something like this when there are more things to worry about right now. I don't think it is moral or ethical to use because we would probably just use it to control the amount us human beings need and not what other species need. I do not think its worth it to risk getting a new disease because diseases and viruses are already getting stronger on their own and they don't need anymore help. cutting down of trees This website talks about how we need to stop cutting down trees and rain forests to slow down global warming. I agree with this because I think what we're doing to the environment is really stupid and that what we are doing now is not enough.
I think this topic is definately not worth more research. yes i do think that controlling precip. is possible in our future. however, i dont think its moral or ethical to do. it's weird knowing that somebody could have control over when it rains and everything. and if its capable of causing disease, then why would we want it to rain on our crops? i think it's too much of a risk to take. we don't need another disease hanging around anyways. i think that acid deposition is a topic of concern.
1. I think this research is completely pointless. Who cares if bacteria is playing a role in rain??? Its still going to rain soo....i dont understand the point. Lets focus on finding a cure for cancer !!!! i dont think controlling precipitation is possible so we should just stop now...
2. I dont think it would be ethical to control precipitation. Its natural, let it happen.
3. NO i dont think its worth the risk to use the bacteria and make it rain and help crop growth in areas of low rainfall, instead of taking into consideration that it is capable of causing disease. Because you want to increase crop growth in a certain area your making probably hundreds of people sick.....i dont think so!!!
4. DEFORESTATION. I love animals...&& i think its cruel how people can just tear down their homes with no problem. Plus it effects the carbon cycle and the water cycle. We need to put an end to that...immediately.My Site talks about all of that....

I don't think this topic is worth further research. Weather should be uncontrollable. If people are controlling when it rains or snows, life would be boring and predictable. I think controlling precipitation could be controllable in the future. Especially at the rate science is moving now. I don't think that it would be moral or ethical to use if it ever was achieved. I don't think it would be worth the risk of "super flu" just to get some areas that have too little precipitation some water. There are many ways those countries can still get the goods they need through our economy today. I would not risk the lives of people with illnesses just to grow a few extra crops. I think we should try to work on controlling air pollution. If we continue to pollute our air, soon enough, there will be no clean air for us to breathe. Air Pollution
yes i think that it is worth it to continue research on this topic. yes i think it is possible to control precipitation in the future. i think it would be moral to control precipitation because it can help our society and it would not do any harm. i think that it depends what kind of bacteria is in the air and is it as harmful as they say. we should try investigation the air pollution and try top control that. i think that this is a significant problem in our environment.

This is an interesting breakthrough for sure. I think this topic is worth continued research. If the day comes that we CAN control precipitation, then wonderful. I think it's possible.
But is it right to use? I think that the idea of controlling nature itself to be fascinating, but we're just playing around with environment. I don't think it's unethical or immoral, but I think that we should let nature be.
Now the bacteria problem:
To make something clear, a flu or "super" flu for that matter is caused by an influenza virus, NOT by bacteria. Bacteria can cause infections and disease which is just as dangerous. However, it's just bacteria. Antibiotics and vaccinations can be created from these bacteria to help combat any form of disease that can arise from this.
I think a topic of concern that should be investigated is the depleting stratospheric ozone layer. Stratospheric ozone is very important to our environment and humans; it's depletion is affecting us.
The Ozone Depletion Phenomenon

If control over precipitation was ever achieved i dont think it is moral or ethical. its going against the laws of mother nature.
i think the potential for a super flu is too great and it isnt worth the risk.
this site is about water pollution in drinking water. this is important becasue it doesnt only effect us it can effect the future too.

2. If control over precipitation was ever achieved it would be moral/ethical to use because it can help people in dry area like a desert or help farmers with suffering plantations.
it depends on how bad we need rain like in enormous droughts maybe it is worth the risk but if not i dont think its.
oooo yeah i thought that i called global warming??? i guess shotying doesnt apply to summ pple??
this website says that carbon monoxide is very harmful to the body read on .....

Yes I mist definitely think the topic is worth continued research because it is a majorrr step in science advancement for us. If scientists decide to research this more then I think it can prevent a number of horrible things from happening. For example, if there is less precipitation then there will not be as much flooding. In effect, houses would not be destroyed by water damage and people will not loose all their possessions. This is even more critical for those who do not have insurance on their houses. If scientists continue to research this then yes, I do believe that we will see the controlling of precipitation in the near future. I personally think that this technology would actually be morally correct to use because it’s not like we’re harming other living beings. And we wouldn’t use this power for silly reasons and play around with it. We would put it to use and who knows?.....maybe even create a technology that will use the water transform into energy. Science has come to a point where altering mother nature is necessary for advancement. With all these new technologies, the question is….Is it moral? I mean if the human race wants to advance then, we have to go beyond that question. Hmmmmm this is a good question. Well, I think that in order to put this technology into effect, I think scientists should think of a way to simulate it. What I mean is, think on a smaller scale. Create some type of simulation that will test if disease spreads with the new technology. If it doesn’t then were in! But no I think its too much of a risk to test it with the environment. WOW, there are like soooooooo many environmental problems right now. Well I’m going to have to go with our heavy usage of oil for energy. We use oil to do EVERYTHING! To heat our homes, to light our homes, to run our cars, to provide electricity, and the list continues. Well right now and not for billions of years will it have an affect on me or my family in the future. But eventually, the ice caps are going to melt and we will suffer some majorrrrr climate change.

I dont think it is worth pursuing but i think it is definitely possible that in the future because of how quickly technology advances in today's world.'
If control over the precipitation was achieved i think it wouldn't be moral or ethical because u shouldn't disrupt nature at its best. Everything should be done naturally, unfortunately a lot of things in today's world is not and that is why we have all these problems with health. So this would just cause more problems.
I say just leave everything as it is and adding foreign materials to our crop growth just may greatly affect our health which could be a super flu or something worse that could quite possibly wipe out mankind.
I think the destruction of trees is greatly affecting the globe especially in the rain forest. We are currently losing 1 and half acres of rain forest every second. It used to cover 14% of the earth's land surface and now only 6%. Personally these facts kill me and after all trees give off oxygen which is a key factor in our survival.

I feel that this topic is worth research. If it is effecting our environment in some way it is worth the time to look into. I do not know if precipitation is controllable, that would be up to research ( and a lot of it). I do not think that we should try to control the weather. I feel that it will later have a negative effect on us if we were to do so. I think that we should not try to mess with nature to make crops grow. It would be too risky and I think that we should not be able to decide when it should and will rain. Another environmental problem I think we should investigate is air pollution. We should be making more of an effort to help the earth while we still can... it is getting late so we need to start now. I am so interested in this problem because I fell that it is one of the biggest problems we have today and a solution needs to be worked on. My link talks about air pollution and gives advice as to ways to help stop it.
No, I do not think that this topic is worth contuined research. I feel that the Lord should control the weather. Science should leave that topic alone, unless it is impacting the environment in a negative. I feel that it would be unethical to control the weather, again that is for the Lord. I feel htat growing a couple of extra crops is not worth risking the lives of people. One HUGE environmental issue that I think should be investigatedd is global warming. That is a very severe problem today and needs to be taken care of. My link talks about the early signs of global warming.
Hey Mr.J sorry its late...
I think controlling precipitation is worth looking into and could help a lot. It seems kind of wrong though, messing with mother nature just doesn't feel completely right to me. I definitely think it is possible with all our technology but i don't know how the university in control would go about trying to change precipitation patterns unless there was some sort of vote. And if it could actually cause and "super flu" it might do much more harm than good. I think we should continue to investigate global warming and pollution. I think that is becoming a larger problem. Although certain people tend to exaggerate the effects, or possible effects, i still do think it is an issue.

Hey tink here. I think this is a topic to look into for places where there is little water and drought, but in todays world they would not stop there and they would go over board with it so i think for that reason we should not. Let the environment control the precipitation rate. it would be ethical but moral... i don't know. Well if there is a chance that the bacteria can cause a "super flu" then it is sooo not worth it. make everyone who eats the crops that it lands on sick yeah that would not be good at all. So for that reason we SOO should not do it. GLOBAL WARMING!!! This is something that we all should be worried about. We really need to slow this down or else the world is gonna be a giant puddle someday.

i think this topic is worth continued research and that itll be possible in the future. i dont think it is worth the risk because it might mess up and cause the land to never grow crops again.
Global warming is very important to me

I think more research is a great idea. If the disease potential can be eliminated it would be great. It reminds me of the movie (not book) I am legend. The bacteria was altered to cure cancer, but it mutated. It turned most of the population into zombies.
I can't see how this would be viewed as immoral. It would almost be immoral to not continue research. (Cue the pictures of starving kids) Drought stricken countries could benefit immensely from this bacteria. (Pictures of withered plants with hungry kids next to them) Another topic we should research is de-glacerization of Alaska. It has pushed polar bears onto the mainland greatly increasing polar bear related deaths. (Picture of a hideous blood-stained polar bear)
