You need carbon in a compound to make it organic. Methane is organic since it has 4 hydrogen atoms and a carbon atom. Inorganic compounds do not have carbon in them. Water is a inorganic compound since it has only one hydrogen atom and 2 oxygen atoms.

They have two kinds of muscles: circular and longitudinal. When they tighten their circular muscles they become long and thin, and their front end moves forward. Then they contract their longitudinal muscles to move their back end toward their front end. They also use thier setae which are short bristly hairs that also help them move.

the arctic circle is located in the tundra...it is the coldest place in the world...during the summer months of may through July the sun shine 24 hours a day. Even during the summer months the maximum temperature has only been 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

A species becomes imune or resistant to chemichals because when a chemical that is harmfull is introduced there is naturaly occuring resistant organisms. Those resistant survive and reproduce.

mr w states "species becomes immune or resistant"... a correction.... immune is a body defense process done by white blood cells. it is a common MISUSE of the term to apply it to the genetic term resistance. resistance IS a random genetic (in our genes) thing.... they are different concepts and NYS likes to try to trick you. pick you word carefully.

The heterotroph hypothesis states that the first living forms on the earth were heterotrophs; life forms that can not produce their own food. It also states that the organisms are anaerobic, meaning that they do not make oxygen. It also states that life formed from organic molecules. This is better known as the "Oparin Theory."

Lamark's (loser!!) theory states that if an organism uses one of its characterics then it will become bigger and stronger over renerations but it also states that if an organism does not use a certain characteristic then it will become smaller or weaker.

the nitrogen cycle is the movement of nitrogen through the atmoshere, soil and organisms. Nitrogen-fixing bacteria forms nitrates from atmosphere nitrogen. Nitrates are used by plants to form proteins that are fed through the food chain. organisms excrete wastes releasing nitrogen. bacteria of decay break down dead organisms' nitrogen into ammonia. nitrifying bacteria turns ammonia into nitrates. denitrifing bacteria turns ammonia into nitrogen. Cycle is continuously repeated.

Monocots and dicots are seeds. A dicot is a seed that has two cotyledons. A monocot is a seed that has one cotyleden. The cotyledon is the outside of the seed. A monocot has parallel-veined leaves and a dicot has net-veined leaves. The vascular bundles in a monocot are scattered and the ones in a dicot are formed in a circular ring. the root systems are different too.
