I personally feel that cryogenics is great. It would be amazing if someone like Albert Einstein could be cloned, because only humanity would benefit. If we were to clone extinct animals it would be great for scientific uses. The great individuals who have died can help humanity again if we find out how to bring them back with cryogenics. Cryonics is a very interesting field of science, and at first I wasn't entirely sure if I was for it or not. Now after researching it a bit, and reading about it, I think that cryonics can be a vital part of the future, not only for the human race, but for all organisms. Although a little wierd, cloning organisms could save endangered species from extinction, and create a balanced world in which we regulate the existence of all animals. Here is my response of bringing people back from the dead. Now, on the topic of bringing people back from the dead, that is an interesting idea. I see this as very intriging, if it can be done. One problem I do see is that over time, if it is successful, the human race will tip the scale. Population will grow and keep growing. If it becomes more and more common, the cost will drop and so more and more people will be able to afford it. One human quality is our curiousity and almsot fright of death. Most of us don't want it, and so many people will want to live. Overall, I think that cloning is positive, individually. I am just afraid the effect it will have on the human race a as whole.

After watching the video, I completely believe that the child is entitled to her fathers benefits. I understand that she was conceived after his death, but she is his child. His sperm was used to give her life. Something should be done to solve this. Maybe they should have frozen the father's body and then unfrozen him and then cloned him and then. . . .I guess I was just joking. Haha.
 

I feel that cryonics is a a great breakthrough and an amazing idea. I first thought it was a little creepy bringing people back from the dead because it usually happens in sci-fi movies and books but now it's becoming reality! I also see how useful this can be. Cryonics may be able to save many species from becoming extinct or bring back the extinct species. When the scientists start experimenting on human beings, it starts to get a little risky with the legal issues and people's rights, even if that may be the only way to see if it really is possible. If it is possible to clone the people, the government should keep a close watch on what they do. It would be very dangerous if the equipment or knowledge of the procedure should get in the wrong hands. I believe that we should give it a try thinking of all the species we can preserve, including humans, although they would need to have high security and a watchful eye for anything fishy so things don't get out of hand.

The last link, Insurance policy: Troops freezing sperm, I thought was very useful. This would now allow women to have children even when their husbands have either died or is out at war. It also give reassurance to the soldiers that they won't be depriving their wives of having children because of the situiation. And from an emotional perspective, if the soldiers do die, then their wives can have the baby to remind them of their husbands or even to distract them from thier loved one. I think that this is a good idea and should be encouraged for not only troops, but for ordinary people like us as well.

After watching this video, I think that she should still get the benifits from her father. He has passed away and she should be the entitled to what her father passed down. After all, she is his daughter and would even have the gentic DNA material to prove it. Whether she was born after his death or not shouldn't be a fctor in this decision.

I believe that this procedure is a fantastic idea. It would benefit many families and it is a way to live on your family name. If someone knew that they, for example, were going to go through a procedure and lose all his/her sperm/eggs, and the family wanted to preserve them, they should absolutly be entitled to their feelings. It is sad, in the CNN video how the child, whom was produced from her dead fathers sperm cannot live through his benefits. It is wrong for this child to not be considered "fruit from his loin." I am all for the freezing of ones reproductive eggs/sperm for the future. This gives us the opportunities to bring back extinct animals and learn about their history and how they effected earth. What as a whole they were like, their habitats their daily lives. This could lead to interesting discoveries.

The video shown is a great source of information and captures the public eye. Personally, the child, i feel should have full access to her fathers benefits. There is nowhere that states that although the sperm was frozen the genetic makeup is altered and due to the death of the father the child is not his. I disagree with this statement and the child should have full access to her deceased fathers benefits.
 

I am for and against cryogenics. To me it really depends on how you are using it. I think that if a husband is using it so his wife can have his child then it is okay. I do not think that we should be using it to clone people. I think that it is okay if scientists are using it to clone animals to study but I don't think they should do it often. I think that when someone dies they should stay dead because if we just clone everyone that dies that is going to cause over population. I also think cloning is creepy. I think that the woman who had twins from her husbands frozen sperm was an appropriate use of the technology. I think that it is good that she was able to have children even though her husband had cancer and had to have chemotherapy which caused him to be infertile.

I initially felt, upon reading the articles, that the use of cryonics was fine and should be researched more thoroughly. It seemed harmless and could only be used to benefit humanity. However, with all new technologies, I grew suspicious. How good/useful is cryonics to humans? It is for this reason that my view on cryonics is similar to my beliefs regarding cloning. While the technology is useful, it should not be used on a massive scale or for unethical reasons (which are subjective and therefore hard to define). Also, as with all technologies, perfection is never guaranteed. This is acceptable when dealing with inanimate objects but a different story with life. I certainly do not want a life form born with physical deformities or other impairments. Until a very practical use for cryonics can be found, and proven, I am unsure of whether or not I could support cryonics.

The link concerning possibly cloning wooly mammoths is an appropriate use of cryonics. Cloning extinct species could prove to be beneficial to science and could yield numerous scientific discoveries. Although, I am unsure of how this technology works. I recently saw a television show on the discovery channel on a group of scientists’ attempt to bring back an extinct species closely related of the Tasmanian devil. One problem discussed was the species of the mother. The species of the mother had to be identical to that of the extinct species or else there would be many complications in birth and early development. I’m not sure which species the scientists were planning on using and I am sure that whatever species they pick will yield many problems.
I would rule that the child should be entitled to benefits from her father, but that in the future, the father should give explicit permission, before he dies of course that he plans to have sperm stored in case of death and that he gives permission for his child to receive benefits. I say this because I do not want a mother to have a child without a father’s permission, and I feel if something like this is being considered, it should be discussed between both parents and should not be done after one parent is dead.
 

I feel that the use of cryonics are awesome. I think we should use this technology more often. I think cloning people will be very efficient in the future. If we cloned really intelligent people it could really help us later in life. I don't think every person who wants to have themselves should be cloned because then it would be a waste, but certain people should have their genes live on by either being cloned or freezing their sperm/ova.

I think the troops freezing their sperm is a good way to use cryogenics. If I was going away to war I would want to know that my wife could still have my child just in case I passed away. I think that they should have laws on this though to make sure the person who may be receiving the sperm has permission from the soldier at war.

Cryogenics is great... to an extent. Part of life is evolution. With this new technology, scientists are basically stopping the natural flow of our world. Many would argue that it would be amazing to clone humans and maybe even bring back the dead. Sure it would be, however, I think that this shouldn't be a solution to help every dying human. So, basically I'm saying that what was meant to be was meant to be. As humans, we are not meant to live forever... and so that's how the world works. Not only would this mess up the science of life, but also many of the religions that have been brought up to believe in things such as the afterlife, heaven, or reincarnation.

I am not totally against this new technology; I still think that this is a very innovative way to help endangered animals. But it should be only limited to the endangered animals, not every single one.

Another viewpoint of mine includes freezing sperm for later usage. This idea I agree with, only after learning about the possibility of women who have their husbands out in the war, to have their husband's child even if her husband died.This I think is a proper use of new technology. Because of this ability, women no longer have to feel like their family is totally incomplete. A child of their husband can help them emotionally get through their hard times after a loss of someone they loved.

I think that cryogenics is amazing. I think that people who have died that can cloned back to life would be really cool, especially people who died a long time ago. To those people it would be like traveling to the future. Also, they could (depending on how long ago they lived) help us with things that we did not know about the past. I also think that it would be very beneficial to clone animals that are extinct or that are becoming extinct.
I believe that freezing of sperm to create a child years after the father is dead to try and get any type of financial benefits is totally wrong! I am not against people being born like that though, because like in the article about the boy who was born like that, I think that he has the right to live just like everybody else. I think that Brandi should have the same rights as everyone else even though she was born after her father died. I do think that you should have to have the deceased person’s permission to even have a child though. I this circumstance they obviously could not get his permission, because he was already dead.

Cryonics, in my opinion, would be a great human accomplishment. We can prevent many species from extinction and also revive many extinct species. We could also preserve the many great people the world really needs. It also allows mothers to give birth to her husband’s child, even if there is a reason that prevents them. I think that cloning animals to prevent extinction or revive extinct animals is a great use for cryonics. We can prevent the many animals that have some cultural, ecological, economical, scientific, etc. from disappearing. This also means we can worry less about endangered species.

In my opinion, the child is entitled to her benefits. I don’t see the difference between if the child was born before the father died or after. The child is the genetic offspring of that person and should receive the same benefits.
 

I think that the idea of cryogenics is rather unique, but therefore it shouldn't be abused in various "tests". Tampering with a life balance can be taken into perspective in different ways. The very thought of cloning someone is the closest thing I've heard to SciFi in a while. Although I can see how a good sum of profit can be made out of this. If we were to be able to freeze then clone things a great extent of things can be available at our command for a big fee of course. The link that i chose is the cloning from the frozen dead one. This I believe is just a downright innappropriate way to use this technology. When you try to make something of the same using rehabilitation through corpses it has some wierd form of necromancy.

After seeing the video i would say the verdict is that she does inherit the money. Even though the father was in fact killed, she is still an offspring and should have some inheritance rights atleast.

I believe that cryonics is a very.......interesting topic. To truly take an opinion, for me it would depend on the individual situation with which I was presented. If it was a situation where a dead person was to be brought back from the grave, I would most likely disagree, unless it is a person who can truly make a difference in their "second life". If it ws a situation where a nearly extinct animal was to be cloned to keep it alive, then I would most definitely agree. I believe that we should make up for the species we have pushed near extinction due to environmental carelessness.

I'm a little unsure about how I feel about cryogenics. It would be good to use for bring back extinct animals and helping create more of an endangered species. It would be great for the study of certain animals. I don't however approve of using this technique for humans. We have enough humans in the world right now. We don't need to make more by bringing back the dead. As for freezing the sperm, I think it is ok for the troops but not for regular people. I think this because the troops are more likely to get killed without being able to have kid.

I don’t think cryonics is such a good idea. I think if someone has died, then they should be left alone, not frozen so they can be brought back to life. If an animal is extinct, I think bringing them back would only cause damage. You don’t know how the animal would affect the food chain or the environment in which we live in. If something or someone has died, they shouldn’t be recreated or revived. I don’t think it is right. But in the case of the woman who had twins from 13-year-old sperm, I think it’s okay. If it’s the man’s choice, then I think it should be allowed, it’s up to him. However, if the man has already died, unless he specifically said that it’s alright, I don’t think his sperm should be used. I think the girl in the video should be allowed to receive the money. He specifically set money aside for his children, if anything should happen to him.

No, it isn't the most well thought out thing, but i really do believe that with further years it will be even more accurate within its studies. For men, who leave their wives to fight for our country, i think it is amazing for them, to be able to freeze their own sperm so if worse comes to worse and they died, their wife would be able to have HIS child, just like they probably always planned.

The use of cryonics is a very controversial subject. I can understand why different people have such diverse viewpoints of cryonics because of its complexities and problems that can arise because of it.

Personally, I believe that using cryonics to freeze sperm/eggs or for other personal uses such as that are fine and should be left up to the people's discretion to whom it concerns. If they want to have children in the future but will not be able to due to a cancer or disease, cryonics seems to be the best methods to use. After watching the video, I definitely think that the child should be legally considered the daughter of her biological father, even if he wasn't alive during her birth or conception. If he gave his sperm to the sperm bank, he technically gave some sort of permission for it to be used. I think that she should be entitled to benefits as if she was conceived normally.

Fathers should be allowed to keep healthy and frozen sperm if they are going into the army, or if they are going under medication that could endanger the sperm quality. People say that it is unethical, but I ask them this, “How is it ethical to deny a father’s right to start his own family?” These men deserve having their sperm frozen because they dedicated their lives to protect our country. And because of this commitment, they lose several years in their “normal, everyday” life. Troops Freezing Sperm Men have to go under risky medication that could reduce their sperm count, making it nearly impossible to have a child. You can’t blame genetics for the illness, so they are completely 100% innocent, and should be allowed to freeze their sperm.

If it is his sperm, and it is her egg, then the child should be entitled to whatever benefits passed down through the family. No questions about it. Does it matter what time s/he was conceived? No, the child will always be his biological daughter/son. In regard to the video, that child deserves the benefits.

The use of cryonics is perfect for animals. We could bring back extinct species. Also, we could clone endangered species to raise their populations. We must especially keep our eyes on this experiment, as we could mess up the census, and corrupt the habitat. If we raise the amount of foxes, but not enough rabbits, then the balance in nature would be destroyed.

I draw my limits on cryonics on bringing back the dead. I do not believe in freezing dead humans so we can cure them in the future. I do believe that storing them so we could withdraw their sick cells for study is a good idea. What is the point of bringing back people? When we find the cure of whatever killed them, it could be years, or maybe even decades! When we bring them back, where are they supposed to go? Their children probably have passed away, and their homes are probably on the market. There is no point in bringing them back, so let’s leave them dead.

However, I don't think we should be bringing people back from the dead. In theory it may sound great, but, it is a little too sci-fi for me(although I do love sci-fi). I think that the person being brought back already had their chance to live. They are gone now and they should not be pulled back.

I Think the concept of cryonics is in the right place, but I don’t believe that scientists can make an exact copy of and organism. I personally believe there could be very strange side effects to all of this. The freezing of sperm is more expectable because it still is more natural, because you are storing an existing thin, other then making something new.

I think that cryonics use is right to an extent. I don’t believe that cloning animals to allow them to still exist is ok because if there are too many of that one animal, the rest of the world may be affected as well. Also, I’m against trying to resurrect species. In today’s world, I don’t think it would be the best idea for once-extinct animals to be either let into the wild or kept in cages. I do think that cryonics is good if it allows soldiers to freeze their sperm. The soldiers are willing to risk their life to help the country and if helps their state of mind when they leave the US to another country, then it should be allowed.
I think that the girl should be able to be a legal heir because she is his daughter. She shouldn’t be punished for how she was born. Although her father has deceased, he father intentionally left his sperm in case her mother had wanted to conceive a child.
