stand point: real trees are better for the environment.

I would rather buy a real tree. Many environmentalists believe that real tree are healthier for the environment versus fake trees. This is because fake trees are made with polyvinyl chloride or PVC, one of the most environmentally offensive forms of non-renewable, petroleum-derived plastic.
FACT: Several known carcinogens, including dioxin, ethylene dichloride and vinyl chloride, are generated during the production of PVC. This aids in the pollution of neighborhoods located near factory sites. Most of those factories are located in China, where 85 percent of the fake trees sold in North America originate. Labor standards there don’t properly protect workers from the dangerous chemicals they handle.
Fake trees also contain lead and other additives designed to make PVC more malleable. Many of these additives have been linked to liver, kidney, neurological and reproductive system damage in lab studies on animals. In addition, The Children’s Health Environmental Coalition warns that fake trees may shed lead-laced dust. This is extremely dangerous because the dust may cover branches or shower gifts and the floor below the tree. Therefore after learning these facts, i feel it is safer, and healthier to have a real tree.

I personally have an artificial tree. This blog did some what change my views, for example i realized that my tree contains led, and cancer causing chemicals. I think next Christmas i might try to convince my parents to recycle our tree, and buy a live one.

1)i think a real tree is better. you get the pine forest smell and the joy of picking a tree out and cutting it down. it is also better for the enviornment. it is all natural. the fake trees use harmful chemicals that harm the enviornment. when the fake tree can no longer be used all the chemicals and the tree are put in landfills.

I believe that real trees is better than a artificial trees. Real trees produce cleaner air when doing photosynthesis. In the making of artificial tree, many of the greenhouse gases are created. Real trees contain lead that is not that good for the environmen, but a lot worse for the people around the tree.

Facts: Sure, spending a couple hundred dollars for a purchase that you could potentially use many years over sounds appealing. However, the choice to go "live" helps the economy more because the Christmas tree industry brings in over $500 million annually.'

I have a CHRISTMAS (NOT holiday) tree that me and my family got off a tree farm. This blog only made me want to have a real Christmass tree more.

Using fake trees would be much better for the environment. why cut down millions of trees just to use for a couple of days and then throw it out? trees are very important , if we keep cutting them down we are going to lose them. e are losing forest's eeryday.

Stand point: Real trees.
Though fake trees are reusable they are produced in factories, commonly in Africa with massive amounts of fossil fuels. The exposure to these dioxins have been linked to cancer and other serious health effects. Not only do these tress affect the producers, but neighbors, other citizens and the consumers.

Real X-Mas Trees

I currently have a real and a fake tree(I hate the fake tree). After doing this blog, it made me want oget rid of my fake tree. This blog basically told me not to have a fake tree.

The amount of trees that would be cut down just for the holiday season every year is much higher then the amount of artificial trees bought each year. You can use the artificial tree every year, compared to a real tree that you throw out later and waste. People also must get stressed about having to pick out a tree every year. They have enough stuff to do around the holidays, and getting a tree just adds to the chaos. In the article I found that an artificial tree is also cheaper if you use it every year, and does not become a fire hazard like the real trees.

I have an artificial tree now.The blog does not affect my view because I perfer the fake tree because my family can put up the tree early every year. I just think it is an easier solution to getting a tree.

Wellll i have a fake tree in my own home, though the idea of having a real one does sound nice. A fake tree doesn't create mess and doesn't involve cutting down real trees. Even though fake trees may hurt the environment, you are only buying one, and a fake tree can last a lifetime so it wouldn't effect the environment too much.

Fake trees were recently admitted into the Center for Health, Environment & Justice's list of household products containing PVC. It is now becoming a known issue, so in this case, the problem can be solved. They do not cause fires more than regular trees. This idea was told and still is. But, the fires are caused by outlet bursts from the lights on the trees.

I do have a fake tree. I kinda wish i had a real one sometimes, but i don't mind either way because there are pros and cons about both.

I would prefer to have a real Christmas tree over an artificial tree. There's just something about a real tree that seems almost more inviting than an artificial one. For one thing, like Dr. B said, you get to pick it out yourself. Also, a real tree just seems to be a fun tradition at Christmas time. If you use an artificial one, you don't get to go in the car and have the build up of going to get it and cutting it down. Instead, when you're ready, you just go downstairs to the garage or to the attic to get it. Now, to more scientific reasons I prefer real Christmas trees. Though they last many years, artificial trees are not recyclable. In order to make the PVC that goes into an artificial Christmas tree, you need petroleum, a "non-renewable, carbon-emitting resource." In the procces of making one of these trees, greenhouse gasses are released into the environment.

Fake Christmas Trees Not So Green

Right now I have an artificial tree in my house but I would much prefer to have a real one. My family was hoping to get a real Christmas tree but we just never got the time to get one so we used an artificial tree that we already had. Having a fake tree in my house definately does not affect my view on which I would prefer - there's just something about a real tree that seems so much better.
 

I personally think that real trees are better for the environment. I think this because the real trees only have one bad thing, pesticides. As you can see on my link, artificial trees provide many more dangers for the environment such as a carbon footprint, PVC, lead, and phthalates. PVC is not biodegradable so when someone throws out their artificial tree because it got old the toxins from the PVC sit in the environment and are absorbed. Lead is not only dangerous to the environment, but the toxins can cause brain and nerve damage. Phthalates are even worse for the environment because they contain the most toxins and are not biodegradable either.

Real or Artificial : Pros and Cons.

I personally have an artificial tree. I wish I had a real tree because not only are they better for the environment but they are more festive and I prefer a real tree over an artificial one :) .

I think that the fake christmas tree is better. There if no mess to clean up with falling pine needles. Real trees also become a fire hazard when they dry out. We have had our artificial tree for almost 20 years so it saved us a ton of money. Fake christmas trees also look very real these days. Lastly the fake trees also prevent new trees from being cut down so it is good for the enviroment.

Fake trees are definitely better for the environment. They may have chamicals in them but you can use them forever! Real trees have to be saved I mean why do people get mad at cutting down the rainforest when we cut down all our trees for christmas! Also fake trees are safer considering the amount of people who die each year due to trees in their homes lighting on fire. Also when the trees aare thrown out they lead up pollution and take a lot of space in landfills.
