1. I believe that the embryo is living and should not be killed. The embryo if killed can never become a human just like you or I. The embryo I think is okay, but not fine and dandy, just okay, to do research on them to find things out. I do not think that killing them in the process is necessary.

When a baby is developing it is first an embryo. What if you were that embryo? I mean we do not know if they can feel or sense anything, but they are still living. Some people make the argument that they do not even look like humans yet. That is just not right, they are making that judgment by what humans look like when they can see them. Even when the homo sapien is an embryo they are still the same species and they are still humans. Would you kill another human? I hope your answer was no, It is the same thing. killing any form of a human whether it be an embryo, a baby, a teen,or an adult is just not right.

1. When I first looked at the question, I honestly found myself at a "fork in the road"... Although I thought that stem cell research could open up a gigantic variety of cures and treatments for a plethora of diseases, I wasn't quite sure if it was ethical to take a living embryo for this practice. After further researching the topic, I have found that my opinion would probably vary depending on the situation that I faced.
Embryotic stem cells are extremely useful and can cure diseases/disorders such as Parkinson's disease, diabetes, sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and many other things. These diseases can be fatal, depressing, and traumatic for people and families of people who are faced with them everyday. Embryotic stem cells can be the key to curing these ailments. However, in the process of doing so, embryos are being killed. Those embryos are all potential human beings with the ability to grow and lead a normal life just like ours. Before we jump to the conclusion that embryonic stem cells are the ultimate savior for medical conditions, we should think about a few things. First of all, how can we kill an undeveloped child, a person much like ourselves? What classifies killing the embryo as ethical? Is it because the embryo does not have any senses, feelings, or knowledge? Is it because it cannot fight for its own right, leaving it vulnerable for scientists to use its being to their own discretion? Using the living to sustain the dying does not appeal to me, however, on the other hand, if I were in a medical situation or knew someone who was in a situation where they needed the transplant to save their lives, my opinion would probably be just the opposite. In that position, I would probably try not to focus on that fact that I would be killing a live being, and, in anguish, I would probably convince myself to believe that stem cell transplants were the perfect solution to my problem.

2 and 3. Although I do not think that stem cell research should necessarily be outlawed, I think that there should be a limitation on how many embryos can be used for experimentation. The scientists should not waste any parts of the embryo, and they should try to research as much information from every embryo as they can. I also think that they should search for other alternatives to this and adult stem cells. If there is another way to find stem cells that are equally as useful as embryonic cels, it could be useful and more ethically sound to test and use. I think that in-vitro embryos from fertility clinics should be the only cells used for this practice because they would otherwise be discarded, although I do not believe in in-vitro fertilization either.

1) Where to begin? I truly feel that the subject of embryonic stem cell reasearch is a tough subject to touch upon. The differing opinions on the matter are strong, and personally I see the truth and reason in both sides of the arguement. In a nutshell, I have mixed feelings about stem cell research and its practice on embryos. Ethically, I think it is okay. These said "embryos" are of in-vitro origin. Therefore, their purpose is to serve the cause of many. Sometimes one life needs to be taken in order to save many. If and when these cells can be used to cure cancer, and other diseases alike, many more lives could be saved. Sometimes when talking about topics such as this, a person needs to put aside their human qualities that make them feel for others. When looked at with an ice cold eye, this is science. 1. I honestly think that this is harmful. Although it may help by treating these diseases, as more people learn about them, that means there will be an increased amount of dead embryos. I feel that this is wrong, because there should be another way to cure these diseases that do not involve the death of another being. 1) This is another one of those topics that i feel like a hypocrite for having my opionion be one way, yet feel something else, i don't even know, so just work with me here. 1. I belive stem cell research is ok. In my opinion, if the embryo has no sense, then there is no problem doing research with it. I believe that, even though there seems to be a benefit from embryonic stem cell research, it is unethical. There is no justifying the killing of what is or would be another human being. 1. I feel that stem cell research is totally ethical. I believe this because an embryo is a group of cells, so it's just like destroying/harming other cells in your body. People do that all the time with tanning, dry skin, and other normal, daily activites. 1. In my opinion, stem cell research is okay, to a certain point. If you can get stem cells from umbilical cords, without killing an embryo, then that’s okay. Even if it doesn’t yield the same results, it’s better than nothing, right? I think we shouldn’t kill embryos if it’s preventable. Why should we get to choose if it lives or dies? Even if it isn’t considered a human yet, it’s growing into one. We shouldn’t prevent it from having a life, in my opinion.
2. Like I previously stated, I think that stem cell research should only be allowed if it doesn’t harm an embryo. I think taking stem cells from the umbilical cord is acceptable. I don’t think we should play the role of god and choose if a potential human being should live or die. So if it doesn’t harm the embryo, than it should stay legal. 1. I think that stem cell research is an excellent idea. In my opinion, the life of someone who is already established and has lived is more important than the life of an embryo. Stem cell research affects me personally, because my grandmother has a dimensia disease, that could be cured through stem cell research. Most likely, I am a bit biast for that reason. But regardless, so many lives could be saved from epidemics, that I think it's worth losing the embryos.

2. I think it should be legal. It's a very useful tool that should be utilized in any way possible. If there is a way to perform the same research without killing the embryos, than that would be an amazing alternative. The government shouldn't tell scientists what to do with research in this respect.

3. I don't think there should be any restrictions on stem cell research.

4. There are only sixty-four stem cell lines that can be studied by scientists. Forty-nine are for a specific group of white people. The other fifteen are for Asians. These are the only lines scientists can study because President Bush did not approve the study of anymore than those sixty-four lines.

1) I feel that stem cell research is ethical and it should be well funded. Stem cell research has the potential to open a up a vast amount of cures for dieases such as arthritis,dieases that dont have any other cure (that we know of). I dont think that we are killing a human when embroyos are harvested. At that stage, it is not yet human.
2. I feel that stem cell research should be legal. It should be regulated by the government and have someone who is familiar in the topic as the head of it. It can lead to cures for many dieases,stopping many people from dying. Not researching stem cells would be letting a good thing go to waste
3. The restrictions to stem cells should be very few. It should be done under the proper environments, and there should be a limit as too how many embroyos are used per month or so.
4. Scientists say stem cells can lead to cures for Parkinstons diease.

I feel like as time goes on people need to go with it. we have new technology that could help many people but in the process we must take life. as for right now we need to do as much research as we can do to improve steam cell so that a tome will come when we don't need to kill babies. so kill one save a thousand. i think we should legalize it because the benefits outweighs the cost. if we legalize it we could improve so we don't need babies to experiment on. it really needs to be closely watched by the government so that no corruption can take place. If the government doesn't thing could and will get bad. i think that they should do research on babies that haven't token there first breath and make sure they ask parents or egg owners for permission. and alert those owners of there doing. The steam research as been a issue even in politics.
