1. My household item is a plastic water bottle. Its recycling symbol is #1, meaning it is made of polyethylene terephthalate and often recycled through curbside recycling services. These plastics are thin, easy to recycle, and used mainly for bottles and other flexible plastics. If this item were not available to me, I would use a reusable water bottle to bring water with me instead. I would preferably use a metal container to hold my drinks in, mainly because it's safer to use... plastics can sometimes wear out, causing harmful chemicals to leach into the liquid. My week's daily routine would probably not change, but I would be making a huge impact on the health of the environment. I think I would find a greater amount of self-satisfaction in using a reusable water bottle.

4. I do recycle both at home and at school. At home, I recycle paper, plastic bottles, plastic bags, aluminum cans, and cardboard boxes. I also try to reuse whatever I can. I am hoping to urge my parents to buy a compost bin soon. At school (mainly at Earth Club which meets on Tuesdays in room 337), I (along with many of the dependable Earth Club members) help to recycle paper. I can't stand seeing water bottles or plastic bags being thrown away, so I bring my water bottles home to reuse/recycle.

1. My household item would be the container in which my families laundry detergent is held. Its recycling symbol is "2", this indicates that it is High-density Polyethylene. This is mainly for, laundry/dish detergent, fabric softeners, bleach, milk, shampoo, conditioner, motor oil. Newer bullet proof vests, and various toys. If this item were not available to me, then the household hygiene level would not be too high. The house would be, hmmm, toxic? My week would differ because, primarily i am not clean, and this is a major problem for me. I need to wear clean clothes, my body needs to be clean(shampoo). This is a major necessity in my household.Other recyclables in my house could be replaced, this, not being one of them.

4. At home, i do recycle. I recycle all types of bottles, cans, detergent containers,alumunum, glass. We also reuse our plastic containers (the ones you recieve at chinese restaurants, and soup containers (tall plastic ones)). My mother, when she goes shopping brings back her plastic bags, but we have the reuseable ones for everthing but meat (she uses the plastic ones for meat). I sometimes recycle in school, but not as much because not every room has a recycling bin, and most of the time is lunch, when i drink my bottles, and we all know there are no recycling bins in lunch, unfortunately : /

The cranberry juice bottle that I have is made of number 1 plastic. This means that it is made of polyethylene terephthalate, the most commonly used plastic for disposable water bottles. If I could not use this for a week I would put the juice in a different container, which would be wasteful because the plastic would still have been used and wasted.

I learned to not leave my waterbottles in the sun, that BPA can be in baby bottles and harm children, and that many things are even lined with plastic if they are not made of it.

This is because it is inexpensive, lightweight and easy to recycle. If i wasn't able to us this item, i would be ayokay. my mama usually doesnt buy much water bottles, but i just happened to have gymnastics today so i needed one, but for the most part i'd be fine. i'd just drink filtered water, and continue on about my day. If my water bottle was not available to me, then I would probably drink from a cup. I do not take a new water bottle everytime I finished the last one; usually, I would refill and reuse it numerous times before I recycle it. I do not think my life would be greatly affected if I stopped using a plastic water bottle since I could easily replace it with a metal bottle. 1) My household item is a glucose tablet tube. Its recycling number is 5. That means it was made out of polypropylene, or PP. It can be recycled by some curbside programs. It has a high melting point, so it is often used for containers that must hold a hot liquid. It is found in some yogurt containers, syrup bottles, ketchup bottles, caps, straws, and medicine bottles. If I could not use this item, I would just put my glucose tabs in a bag instead. My life would not differ much at all. Half of the time I use a bad anyway because it is more convient in some circumstances.
3) There was nothing on the list that was specific to my item, but it did mention that Americans toss out enough paper and plastic cups, forks and, spoons every year to circle the equator 300 times. That is similar to my item.
4) I recycle at home and at school. I put all my old papers in the recycling bin at school, all our bottles go in the recycling bin at home, and our cans go back to the distributer. Also, the glucose tube I mentioned above, I have not bought a new tube in years. I keep the old ones and refill them. My fact would be "Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour. " That is a very big number, but I'm not too surprised because I know the U.S. does use a lot of plastic.

1. My household item is my plastic water bottles. My bottle has the recycle symbol, but no number next to it nor around it, just a recycle statement. I could alter my way around it by using other containers of water. My coach just told us today we should make the change to the metal containers, because they are much more reusable and safer, than the emissions from a water bottle. My life would not change to drastically, we can always use cups of water at home, and at other areas just out of a fountain.

2. I found it relatively difficult to avoid using items with the recycling identification number 1. I do not usually eat soft drinks, but I do bring in bottles for lunch. If I had to, I would bring in a reusable water bottle for lunch.
