I feel the study results are inconclusive yet there does appears to be some correlation between chocolate consumption and heart health. If someone were to further this study they should isolate groups of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate eaters and control the overlooked variables (e.g., mental health) a little better. I feel dark chocolate probably has the best health effects for you but everything should be in moderation. Personally, I don't eat a lot of chocolate so this study really doesn't mean much to me in regard to my health.
Here is a cool website about chocolate's health effects-http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?id=3464&t=CFIDS_FM
The independent variable for the study was the amount of chocolate consumed by the heart attack patients.

I think this study is cool, but not very accurate. I feel it is not very accurate because there were a lot of different factors to play into the experiment and it does not work for everyone. I think if scientist were to further the study, that the experiment would be better and very helpful to everyone.
Chocolate on your health
The experiments weaknesses are that it can not work for diabetics, there are many different chocolates and everyone is different whether it is there body or personal likes.

The study is a little shaky. In this article there are many things that leave you questioning. For example did they consider that they can not control the obesity if they are eating a lot of chocolate. They also do not say if they study is for a healthy or non-healthy person. They had left many of the important variables out of the experiment.

I think the study results are interesting but not very acuarte. In order to be more percise, someone should test a randomized trial on the effects of chocolate on peoples heatlh. They should also consider the many different variables which may cause the study to be inacurate. I think it would be benificial to many people if more people continue this study.
An experimental strength in this study would be that now a new idea that chocolate may reduce heart attack related deaths. This idea has got peope thinking that chocolate isn't just a "guilty pleasure" but also considered healthy. I think that with more research and experimentaion we may learn that chocolate should be included in our daily meals.

I also agree thta this study was cool because I like adore chocalate but if I had a heart attack and needed to recover quick I would not trust this information.
The scientists from Sweden could have kept better track of their patients (which was way to many). They could have also said that maybe dark chocalte or white choclate etc. should be eaten. You can also see in this video about the benefits of choclate.
Another beneift of eating choclate is that it lowers your blood pressure.

I think that the idea that chocolate could benefit your health in some way is intriuging. I also think that the study had the right idea, but the experiment's foundation wasn't sound. They should have had more random selection when it came to the subjects of the observation, and the inconsistecy of variables such as the types of chocolate, probably affected the outcome in some way.

I believe that the information discovered is very interesting. It provides a treatment for reducing the potential of death even though it might be only slightly reduced. The study may have to be further looked into because while chocolate may reduce your risk of dying, it also produces new risks, for example obesity.

I feel that this study is in need of more control. The type of chocolate could effect the outcome of the survival rates as well. Ray B. is on the same page as I think.

I feel that, although this study was significantly intriguing and surprisingly entertaining, the experiment was lacking, in means of organization. The experiment appeared to have too many variables; it is difficult to find a controlled experiment due to factors such like, genes/ family history, additional eating habits, amount of physical fitness, etc. It's an interesting factoid or a cool source of relevant trivia, but in the end, I believe a more sophisticated experimentation could have or should be conducted.
Surprisingly, however interestingly enough, I was able to find a riveting medical blog article that had substantial evidence suggesting that the unhealthy effects of chocolate out-weigh the healthy ones, and when compared, are insignificant. however, with further accurate experimentation, those results could change !
Furthermore, while reading the article that promoted the healthiness of chocolate, I came across the unfamiliar word, flavonoid, which I've now come to find means..."Any of a large group of water-soluble plant pigments, including the anthocyanins, that are beneficial to health."

I feel this study is interesting and hopefully somewhat truthful but it does come across as inaccurate. If someone was to further study on everyday people who eat lots of chocolate, one is bound to have a heart attack and from there they are able to gather results from this person and a control; a person who eats a limited amounts of chocolate. I absolutely love chocolate so hopefully these assumptions are somewhat truthful.:)

Without a direct cause and effect relationship, I find the researchers' discoveries dubious. Without direct experimentation and proper controls, the accumulation of variables invariably clouds causation. Understandably, we cannot hole up "test subjects" in laboratories, forcing them to consume chocolate and watch them wither their natural lives away in a closed setting. Such experiments are better left to "Aperture Science," where (chocolate) cake can be served on a regular basis.
I think there need to be so further study in the experiment. They need to make groups like milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate. This will help make a better conclusion. They should also check for family history of heart attacks. I love chocolate so this study means a lot to be.

I feel as if the study wasn't as exact as it needed to be. There are many factors that could have affected the outcome of the study, like in the article, the mental health of the patient and the type of chocolate. I think if this study were to be repeated and the same results were to occur scientists should make a vitamin like substance that has the factors that the chocolate has to reduce the death rate after a heart attack but without the negative factors of chocolate. All good experiments can be repeated so I think this one definitely should be. More factors should also be looked at (e.g., blood type, family history, and physical health) Chocolate can also reduce blood pressure as well as death rate from heart attack.
I think that it is amazing how chocolate can even prove your life span. Although it is pretty cool i feel that it isn't that acurate. I really feel that it may expand your life span, but I don't think it is good for your health obesity wise.

I thought the article was amusing, a hypothesis where eating chocolate helps you? I would love that, but I eat a fair amount of chocolate just as the way it is. Anyways, I thought the experiment could be improved by being more specific with what kind of chocolate (milk, dark, etc..) the recovered patients ate. To be even more detailed than that, what brand/ingedients in the chocolate.

I think that this study wasn't accurate. It improved the life expectancy for people who had a heart attack, but there are effects to this study as well. A risk to this would be obesity.

I found this article to be amusing. Though I do not particularly think that it is conclusive. After i read the article i was left with unanswered questions. For example, they did not state the health status of the people who they studied.

While the experiment concluded information that could be helpful, the results cannot really be proven. The study was not very precise and even though the scientists were very careful to keep many variables in mind, they also failed to keep all of them in mind. It cannot be proven from a questionare survey that chocolate can help you recover from a heart attack. While it may have been a nice start, this study is still a work in progress that requires extensive research and a more precise and accurate experiment.
The study could be improved if more variables were taken into account beforehand, and if people who were at risk for a heart attack were tested beforehand, ate a certain type of chocolate for a set period of time, and then tested again and see if their heart was better, and if their risk for a heart attack was lower.
Also, the people involved in the study could provide more accurate information if it was coming directly from them, in a controlled environment, rather than a questionaire form survey that is asking questions that are coming from pure memory.

I believe that the research could have been more detailed and precise in the recording and collecting of data. They should have isolated the different kinds and brands of chocolates. I was still facinated by the health benifits of chocolates. The scientists did not kow exactly how much chocolate was consumed, so theat might affect it.

I found the study rather interesting. Although I did find a few ways it was flawed. I personally believe that the variables were not controlled completely. As they could have all had other things in common that helped them survive. If it were conducted in a laboratory then it would be in my opinion more accurate. However I don’t know if that would be allowed considering the fact they would have to induce a heart attack but if all were willing it would make the variables much more controlled. I found another interesting chocolate related study here is the link.

My opinion of the research in the article is that people should eat chocolate to survive heart attacks, but they should also eat healthy and not chocolate all the time. I think they should still study a little bit more before jumping to conclusions though. I think if you're going to eat chocolate, you should at least eat more dark chocolates then other chocolates.

This is so fascinating! If it can actually be proven, this can be a great find in the scientific history. I believe that it is not that accurate as there are a lot more variables to think of while experimenting on this. It is surely easy to object to this study, as it is a little shaky with the explanations and most of the facts too are not that firm. But overall, it is really interesting, and I believe that it might actually be true as some properties of chocolate has been proven to affect animals in positive ways of health. So it is fully possible that humans also has the same kind of reaction.

The study is great for chocolate lovers. I personally feel though, that the study is too general and there is to many parts within the experiment. It also doesn not affect everybody and the study to not very accurate. But with the brains of scientists, if they figure out a way to make the chocolate affect every one then chocolate will be on the wise, but so will obsity.

The study is a great thing that can help everyone who has or has had a heart attack. The more chocolate you eat, the better it is for you, which sounds kind of weird because everyone is always told, "Don't eat so much chocolate, it's not good for you," but it is. Dark chocolate is definitely better for someone than milk or white chocolate, but they all can help. There are more things that chocolate can help with. I actually never knew chocolate could be so good for you, I mean I knew it had some benefits (dark more than milk or white) but I didn't know it could help so much. The flaw that could have had a massive difference if it had been corrected is that the scientists didn't specifically say which chocolate they were asking about consumption. Therefore, the people who ate dark chocolate as apposed to white would have a higher health rate than the people who ate white. All in all, I think I'm going to go eat a chocolate bar now! =)
I found that the experiment itself was rather interesting, however the results gathered by the scientists seem to be a bit questionable. The patients were never asked what kind of chocolate they were eating (white, milk, dark) and also what company had produced the chocolate (Hershey, Milka, Godiva). I believe that there is some work to be done to better this experiment, but the general idea that someone who eats chocolate has an increased survival rate following a heart attack is pretty interesting.

The information in the article surprised me. It sounded very convincing and it made me want to believe it. However, the tests and research did not seem very accurate. I think its possible maybe their data and research doesn't directly point to the fact that eating chocolate can increase the chance of survival in a heart attack. But i do believe consuming reasonable amounts of dark chocolate can be beneficial. I personally am not crazy about chocolate, so this concept doesnt apply to me a lot, but i do think the article is interesting.
