Sometimes you don't realize a site you are using is completly made up. I would think you would look at the creators of the website to see who they are what they do. Some sites are completly ethical and trustworthy while others are just made up by someone wanting to pull a prank or something like that. There are key items to look for when using a website. People often use goole to direct them to a helpful website. I do too. i search through the first couple of websited to see if they are what I'm looking for. Often tImes they aren't so I refine my google search and continue looking. After I a sefice website I sometimes check the makers of the website. I know I should be more careful with what websites I use because one could be easily fooled with a fake one.
 

Usually, when trying to find a website to post, I use a search engine, perferably Google. Most of the time, when I'm researching something, I use familiar sites that I know I can trust. If the website is unfamiliar to me, then I check first to see if it's secure-with the lock symbol. Then I check the layout. The more professional it is, the more authentic it seems.Of course, those aren't guarenteed to be clear signs to a 'honest' website, and I can't truthfully say that I obsessively check to see whether or not a website is legitimite.

This is also another way to make sure the site you are using is relible, by checking multiple sources to make sure they are the same. Many websites that end in .org, . net, or .gov tend to be reliable sources. You may also check if the website has a copywrite or says its secure. You should check when the website was last updated to make sure the facts are up to date.

In order to see if the information provided in the sites are credible, you can cross-check it with two or more other websites. You can always refer to other sources like books and other potentials. There are many websites that can give you information on how to validate the information on websites. I found this website while browsing through some pages recently. It has some steps to find if the information on a site is useful or not. One of them is, to look at the URL to see if the end part has .gov, .edu or .org so that it is usually correct. .gov is from government and usually always accurate. .edu is educational institutions only. So it can almost never be wrong. Same with .org which are usually non-profit organisations.

Whenever I reaseach any subject I usually go straight to Google. From there I usually just click on a couple different sites and read about the topic. Although, when I want to check if my sources are honest and true I take several steps. These include cross examining a few different sources to see if they have the same basic concepts, checking the URL to see if the site is commercial, educational, government etc.(you gather some information about the reliability of the site through this), and I also check who is maintaining the site and when it was last updated(usually if it is maintained by a company and updated regulatly it is respectable). This is a great habit to have so that you can be wisely informaed about a topic rather than being misimformed and looking like an idiot, for exapmle when your doing a report. I honestly don't know if the information i am using is "honest or "ethical" but there are several ways to distinguish the honest and ethical from the others. However when i do need to get a website i usually make sure it is one i have used often and know is trustworthy or one that is .org,.gov, etc.

The website states that you should look for a copyright date and consider the sponsors of the website. Also, to look at the endings if it is edu., gov., etc then it should be pretty reliable. I did not consider the past websites I have used to be a reliable source but i know now what to look for.

Usually the first thing I do is try to look for an article from a site that I am familiar with, such as aol or yahoo. If I can't find an article, then I click on a random link. I'll usucally stick with an article if it is written by a site for some sort of newspaper, magizine, or something like that. But, just to make sure, I check it for spelling and other potential errors. If it is an article that sounds like a lie or the name of the site is strange, I try another article. When I find a site, I always check other sites to see if the information is the same (or similar). I also check for spelling and grammar errors. You never know if anything on the internet is true, so it is important to be able to recognize an invalid article. (Ex. if the domain name changes from www.yahoo.com to www.infopage.com, but the page still looks like yahoo.)

When I need to look up information I use Google, which is a search engine that can show you thousands upon thousands of pages of info. Some sites may give you honest and ethical facts about a topic. I look to see whether the site is from an organization or if its from an individual author. I also look to see if there is information that makes sense and is valid, not something that an elementary kid could prove is wrong. This is a guide to finding a good website. Most of the time Google does a good job. If I can't find the site that i'm looking for I just change the wording of the search. Usually, after a couple tries, I find the site quickly. If that doesn't work then I look in a different search engine such as Ask.com. Although, there is no definite way to tell for sure if the info on a site is completely true

If I want to see if my sources are fake or real, I need to do somethings to see if its rela or fake. I check the URL to see if the site is commercial, educational, government and so on . I also check who is running the site and who created. I rarely do this but i do occasionaly check wit the site was last updated. This is what I mostly do to see if the site is legit. I got to www.whois.net, basically what you do is you type in the site where you want to look up at www.whois.net and it'll tell you all the information on the site.

You can tell that a website has good information and is honest by the end of the URL or if the website has refrences or work cited. I also make sure that the website is spelt correctly so that I am not being tricked. This website states that it is best to use a very fine search or if a link navigates away from the website but it still looks like the one that you were aleady on.
 

How I find the website that I post for each blog is I click on Internet Explorer and type in at the very top my website. I have no possible way of knowing if this website is safe because it is a soccer website and states nothing about the website's safety. I believe that the website I use is giving "honest and ethical" information because of other sources like friends and coaches. I have no way of knowing if I can trust this site. Most people usually use google to find their sites, but to find my site you do not have to go into google. It is just one less "step". I have never checked the makers of a website because I feel it does not matter, even though it probably does. One website I do not use because I know can be messed up is Wikipedia.

Usually when a website's .something is .org, .gov, or .edu, i know i can trust the site. I am cautious about sites that end with .com or .net because anyone can make a site and it will be either .com or .net. Since this site ends with .org, i know i can trust the information that it contains. it can be really hard determining if a site is reliable or not.
