I think surrogacy can be considered ethical or unethical depending on your personal moral values. I personally am prolife but surrogacy is not directly connected to adoption. Surrogacy is like the alternative to adoption although both processes are similar. Many people feel the practice of surrogacy is wrong because it’s like “baby selling.” I think that surrogacy is ethical because it’s similar to an organ donation and allows regular people to become parents. There are many cases in which surrogacy have huge positive impacts on the lives of average people. I probably would not consider this procedure but I would adopt a child. this website talks about why people find surrogacy unethical.

I believe that surrogacy is ethical in most cases. But i also think that people should have to be approved by a doctor in order to take part in any position of the operation. I think it's a great option for gay couples and people who can't have children for medical reasons. I think it is completely ethical because the child is still partially related to the family. The case that i believe is not OK is when a parent "breeds" their baby by choosing the sperm and egg that will be used in order to create a super-baby. It is fine to make sure that you are not collecting a diseased sperm or egg. Another problem with surrogacy is that the birth mother might not want to give the baby(ies) up after birth because of a connection made while the baby was growing. It is not forced on anyone, so the person who will give birth to the baby does not have to say yes, it is an option to do it. people in this article disagree. :/

I strongly oppose the practice of surrogacy and I do not believe it is in any way an ethical practice. I really can't believe that people have become so greedy as to buy their own babies. I can understand in the case of infertility that couples want their own babies, but I think those couples, whether they be gay or straight, should be adopting and taking in children who are less fortunate and need a home. I feel surrogacy is an unfair practice and ultimately can be an extremely cruel practice for surrogate parents and the children resulting from it. Personally, I would like to know who my real mother is and would not like to be raised by "false" parents unless totally necesary. Surrogacy to me is just a science experiment to see if we can breed better humans. I feel that it is unethical and baby making should be a pure and genuine process not an artificial one taking place in a laboratory. If I could not have children- yet wished to -I would, if my spouse agreed, adopt a less fortunate child and care for it as if it was my own.

Here is a site that offers support for the practice of surrogacy and encourages it for those couples who want to build families yet cannot due to infertility.

I feel that if a woman can't conceive a baby on her own, this is a good way to have a baby besides adoption. I believe surrogacy is a great thing for others. For me, I want to have kids on my own unless I can't. I think that people especially really religous people think that this is not an answer. Surrogacy is good for people who can't conceive, I don't think it's right to have a surrogacy because you don't want to ruin your figure.
I think this process could be either moral or ethical. It all depends on what you believe. I feel that it's not so much moral. I believe it's ethical. IT is like donating an organ. I do believe that if I couldn't get pregnant, I would think about using this method.
This website talks about how surrogacy is unethical.

I feel that surrogacy is ethical or unethical. If I were to be in a situation where I couldn't have children then I would consider surrogacy. It is a good alternate for couples that do not want to adopt. I think that in most cases everyone who is physically, mentally and emotionally able to properly and responsibly care for a child should be able to have a child. I also think that anyone who is unable to have kids should first look into adoption. There are so many children without a home, waiting to be adopted. Therefore, I do believe that surrogacy is ethical but before you decide the get a surrogate you should first look into adoption.
This website states the things that cause some people to believe that surrogacy is unethical.

I don't really like the idea of surrogracy. It sounds.. shallow. Making one's own baby, yes thats normal, but one doesn't choose their partner by their talents/characteristics. It's much more personal than that, isn't it? How can a person just simply select what they want their child to be. Even for gay or lesbian couples. Is this baby, I mean truly think about it, really yours? Adopting would be, in my opinion, the most preferable choice. Whats the difference between the baby being made and the children already brought into this world? Why are they not "yours" like the babies that are products of surrogracy? They're not athletic or brilliant? Oh well then, that all makes sense now![insert sarcasm here] I would not consider this procedure unless, somehow, all the children left for adoption have been placed in loving homes.

Opposites attract..not

A real option to people, not showing as many complications as there really are.

I think that surrogacy is ethical under certain circumstances and when executed with caution. I also think it is not the first choice to parenthood. I believe that if a couple is unable to have a child on their own and wish to have a child that is genetically close to them, I believe that surrogacy is alright. It is a good option for gay couples, such as the one in the video, because, if they have a good surrogate, the process is a "joyful" one. However, I am opposed to surrogacy if a woman does not want to become pregnant for superficial reasons or is incapable of raising a young human being. I also think it is important to not engineer a child too much. If it is protected from genetic diseases, engineering is alright, but not for much else. I think that surrogacy is only ethical when done with much care. Clear, legal contracts must be made and all three parties must know their place. Thorough examinations of all three parties must be done to insure a smooth process. The surrogates as well as the parents must be upstanding and respectable. Personally, I think that adoption is a better process to becoming parents. If parents do want to have a child that is genetically engineered surrogacy is the better option.
I personally would think about adoption before surrogacy. I think there would be less conflict over custody because it would all be figured out before hand. It would benefit an existing child and it would grant parenthood to a couple. However, if that was not an option either, I would be hesitant, but I would probably have a surrogate child.

Here is a link about surrogacy and why it is considered unethical or ethical. It deals with legal and moral views.

I truthfully have to say that my personal opinion on surrogacy is strongly negative. This process isn't needed in order to have children! And I strongly believe that having children 'made to order' is just plain wrong. I think that doing so is a violation of nature itself. You can't just create the perfect child. It's unnatural. And yes, I can see that a major argument for pro-surrogacy is that a lot of couple are unable to have children. I would not consider surrogacy if I myself was in that position. There are so many children out there, alone, orphans, and living in hope that one day they will find a family. Why not adopt? Why take an opportunity to do some good to a poor child who wasn't born 'perfect', and doesn't have a family to be with, and change it just so you can make a flawless baby?
This is a blog article about the positve aspects of surrogacy.

Surrogacy is a very debatable topic in our advanced world. People might not think its ethical. Although there are many things to consider when having a surrogate child, I think that its a perfectly legit process. The person who asked for this process to happen is the one who should get to keep the child. The child wouldn't have even been there if the person who picked the egg donor and the sperm donor didn't ask for it. They are the ones who paid for the surrogation process to happen. This new technology should not be used just for business or the make the "perfect" child. I would consider this procedure for anyone who wants a child, but are physically incapable to have one. It is a tragedy for someone to know that they cannot have children due to their genes, something which they cannot control. This is a website for an opposite opinion

I had actually never heard of this process before and after reading the article and watching the video I think this process can be both ethical and unethical. I think it is ethical because if the parents want children and are unable to have them, this is a good way. I also think it is unethical because you basically just selling a child which is not right. This can also cause many problems such as the lawsuits and these problems can be avoided if it is planned with extreme caution. The people should go through many tests, months observations and background checks before making a decision that will change their life.
No I do not think I would consider this process and would probable adopt a child instead.
ethics of surrogacy

I think surrogacy can be both moral and ethical and not moral and not ethical. Surrogacy, in my opinion, should be the choice of the actual parents, not the mother conceding the baby. Next, I think that the mother conceding the baby should not get a say in if she wants the baby. It is moral and ethical because people want to become parents, but it is not moral and ethical because it is giving out your child to people you don't know. It can be dangerous. I would not consider surrogacy if I wanted to have a child and couldn't because it would be going through too much trouble. I would probably try to adopt an already born kid.

I think that surrogacy is totally unethical. In some cases, for people who are inferile or even same sex couples, having a child through surrogacy can be a joyful and sometimes rewarding experience, but I think that the whole process is way to confusing for all parties involved: including the child. People have abused the idea of surrogacy so much that now you can pick what characteristics you want your baby to have and I think that just crosses the line. It's just like ordering food at your favorite fast food joint, except that you're changing a human being. Also I think that the surrogate might turn on the parents, resulting in a series of legal batlles which in turn might leave the baby parentless. I think that if it was me, I would want to have my own children. If i couldn't, I would probably adopt. This site obviously disagrees with me.

SURROGACY IS GREAT!...Or is it???

In my opinion, surrogacy is completely ethical. Surrogacy is an advancwed way to adoption because the parents are able to select specific genes for their child. Surrogacy is the best way for couples who can not have babies for whatever medical reason. Couples who want to have a baby threw surrogacy should have a background check, letting doctors know if the couple are able to raise the baby, for safety purposes. The woman who is giving birth should also have a background check to let doctors know that they are healthy enough, and/or will not use drugs during the pregnancy.
If my spouse was not able to have a child, i would consider this procedure, only if i trusted the surrogate and knew that she was reliable.
This site feels that surrogacy is unethical.

I think that surrogacy is unethical at certain times. Having a baby is supposed to be a memorable experience, not a science project. If two people are able to have a baby, but the "mother" or "father" wants a test-tube baby for their own selfish needs/wants, then surrogacy is wrong. However, if same gender couples, or people who just cant get pregnant, really do want a child, then surrogacy is basically the only option. But I would only consider this as an absolute last resort, if I was in a situation where I wanted a kid, but couldnt have one. The baby is really supposed to come directly from its parents, but if people truly want children, but cant have them, surrogacy is a great way to get a kid. But I think that too many people take advantage of surrogacy as the "easy way out" for having a kid, and its very wrong.

I do not agree with this practice of surrogacy and think it is completely unethical. I think people if they wanted a baby should adopt a child that is less fortunate. If that was be I would want to know who my real parent are not some phony bologna parent unless something happened to my parents. Buy a child it just plain stupid, MAKE YOUR OWN CHILD if you can. The world doesn't need to by perfect, I like diversity. I won't want to be all the same. Picking what kind of characteristics is to much. Some people just cross the line

People who think surrogacy is ethical

I think surrogacy is ethical but also selfish. It's moral because if someone who can't have children want children then they have that right. It's selfish though because you "making" and "buying' your child when, like Ray said, adopt a child that needs a famliy. It's the same thing except the child won't be related to you. Personally I think that brings the child and family adopting together becuase the child will be greatful that when living in the conditions they did that you took them in. I would not consider the procedure because it seems more of a battle to have children because the surrogate mother gets attached and she could have second thoughts. In adoption there is usually no family and easier becuase there aren't any second thoughts. And you are helping a child.
This site
believe that becoming a surrogate mom is like being in heaven.

I think surragacy is ethical as in the whole pracess of suragacy. Though it can easily become an unethical process. Many people say that people intstead of undergoing this procedure they should just adopt but adoption can take years and some people might want a baby that looks like them . I mean no disrespect when i say maybay a caucasian couple might want a baby of the same race rather than one from asia or africa. This process only becomes a question of ethics when the agreements made are not honored by both parties. Then it results in big legal messes which are bad for the children there need s to be laws in place recognizing the contracts and then surragacy will be a completly ethical (in my mind)procedure.
OThers still dont feel well about this as this Article shows

I think that the process of surrogacy is ethical in my opinion. Surrogacy is like a more personal form of adoption where the kid looks more like you. Its a good idea because if you want to have a kid but can not then this is a great alternative to adoption. If you want a baby so much that you will put it in another person then I think that you would be a responsible parent. However I think that there are kids out there who need a better home. Instead people choose to have kids that look more like themselves. I think that if you are gay or lesbian then you should try adoption of unfortunate kids first then have a surrogate baby. I think that the practice is moral and ethical. The birth mother is choosing to have the baby inside her, it is her own choice. The parents who can not have the baby are just needing a breeding area for the baby. The process of giving part of yourself to help others is almost like organ donation its the persons choice. If I could not have a baby then I would consider adoption first but its still a choice. This
Website talks about how the surrogacy takes too mush time money and energy and it could still come out wrong.

I feel as though surrogacy is an immoral practice. i have felt that way ever since i had known about the practice. this feeling is probably a result of my religious background and teachings in the church. i feel like birth is a natural aspect of life and shoul;d be done in the natural, and traditional way. that means i don't believe in these "designer babies." you take what you get and make the very best of it. some may argue the aspect of inability to concieve. if such is the case, it is not hard to find a healthy, needy newborn that is up for adoption as a result of the family's inability to take care of said child or if the babe is a result of a teen pregnancy, etc. there are so many children that go homeless or get put into a bad home, and it could all be eliminated by making surrogate paternity illegal. a website
that advocates an ideal completely contradictory to my own thinks that this practice is innovative and is encouraged. i completely and passionately disagree with this websites for many reasons, but primarily because of how it has turned something so sacred as childbirth and motherhood into a business.

I feel that it is debateable as to wether surrogacy is ethical or not. Personally I feel that babies should be naturally concieved and not become part of an ongoing science experiment. Surrogacy could be an appropriate alternative, if one was infertile and unable to have babies on their own, if the money factor wasn't involved. Also many children are put up for adoption year after year and I think that it would be much more practical if these children were given homes than bring more people into this world and deny others the opportunity of having a family that they could call their own. I only think surrogacy is an ethical practice if it is a last resort and is only considered second to adoption. I would not consider this procedure if I wanted children and was unable to have them. Adoption is a much more humane and appropriate way to go than to basically have a baby genetically modified for you. This website encouages surrogacy.

I feel that surrogacy is unethical in certain ways and in some, ethical. There are many other ways for someone to have children like adoption. It is wrong because you should not be able to choose your child's parents, be happy with what you receive. But if they are desperate to have children but can't, it is a way to consider. It is good for those who have cancer and can't reproduce or can't for several reasons. I would not consider this procedure for me before i would consider adoption.

I think surrogacy is ethical. My personal opinion is that it doesn't matter what people think in society, beacause if your a woman that cannot get pregnant on your own then you can turn to whatever you feel is best. A lot of people look down at ones who choose this practice. If it were me, I would not go with this particular practice, I would go with adoption because I feel it would be much safer. All in all, your opinion, your choice.

I personally do not believe in the practice of surrogacy and I do not believe that it is ethical. I can't really picture people buying their own babies like going into a dollar store and buy something for a dollar. I realize that couples want their own babies, but I think those couples that cannot make babies should adopted and taking in orphans or homeless children. If I could not have children, I would probably just live and die without a child or I would adopt a child or baby. I truly think this practice is unethical. Babies should be made naturally and not like this. If i had a child with this practice I would always be nervous of that day to come when my child ever finds out if I wasn't their real parent and asks who their real parent was. In my opinion baby surrogacy is just another way to say "womb's for rent."

"Wombs for rent"

I believe that surrogacy can be either ethical or unethical and that it all just depends on your opinion. I personally am all for surrogacy. I thiink that if i was in a situation were i was unable to have children or needed to consider surrogacy, then it would probably be on the top of my list of options.I think surrogacy is a great option for same sex couples or some one that has a medical situation, it isi even a great solution for some one who wants a child but doesnt have a spouse or someone to concive with.

Here is a link that is really an overview of surrogacy and the issues that come with it.

I do not think surrogacy is ethical. I think that adoption would be a better decision. I think this because those children need homes already and it makes it harder for them to get homes if more people resorted to surrogacy. I would think that it would be weird to live with "parents" that aren't related to me. (This excludes adoption...) I would not consider the procedure if I couldn't have kids. Instead, I'd get a pet like a dog.

Surrogacy is a subject of debate in our country. It can be easily justified as positive or negative on how one views it. From what I read and saw in the video, I fully believe that surrogacy is both ethical and moral under most of the circumstances. This is of course not the primary choice to take, however, for those who are either unable to conceive, it is a great gift. This is also true with gay or lesbian parents(couples). Anyway, it should still be kept as a helping hand rather than a new generation business. Even though it is not your own child, it is not anyone else's child either in a way. Of course it is another persons' sperm and egg, but it was for you that it became a baby. So I also believe that both groups of parents(real and surrogates) should have some say over the child. Think about it as helping someone who cant help themselves.

Even though most sites agree with me, thissite differs.

Surrogacy is a very controversial issue. I believe that it is not ethical. Having a child is something special and the birthmother should “own” the child. Also surrogacy is unnatural; you are taking another woman’s egg and another man’s sperm. A child should be conceived naturally. I think that if you are unable to have a child for whatever reason, there is always adoption. So many children live in orphanages and adoption centers that would be delighted to be brought into a family. They may not be the same as a newborn child but you will be possibly saving a child instead of creating a new one. I would never consider surrogacy, I would look into adoption.

Here are a few websites supporting surrogacy.

I do not believe that surrogacy is ethical in most cases. If you are unable to conceive a child then yes this is an option for you but there are so many children who need homes why not adopt one of them? If you really want it to be "your" child then i guess this option can be considered. After what i read though, its hard to say who can have custody of the child. Yes it is technically the woman's child but after 9 months of doing all the work and then having to hand it off to another women does that seem fair? Personally i would like to have my own child and if i can't then i would adopt. This whole process seems a little sketchy to me. It is a great idea however and shows how advanced our society is becoming. :)
Surrogacy

I think surrogacy at first, seems abnormal and unethical but it is actually a solution for many people who can't have a baby. This process is different from adoption because the baby has genes from his/her parent. But adoption may be favored over surrogacy by many people because it can seem unnatural and like selling babies. And also, adoption may seem risk free and safer. Also less babies would be adopted from orphanages if people relied on this medical procedure. If i wasn't able to have a baby I would consider surrogacy. However, in my opinion adoption is also a very good alternative. It is a very hard decision to make.

http://doctorandpatient.blogspot.com/2008/02/lets-ban-surrogacy.html

I think that it is a smart chose for the working woman. But, the connection to the mother and the child is different so I am not planing on ever using this plan to have a baby the experience is what I think that connects the mother to the baby and there is nothing in the world like that. So, I say that it is unethical to me. But, to the working woman it may seem to be ethical to practice surrogacy.
