Nanotechnology is used to say it can enhance the flavor or nutritional effectiveness of food by companies. Americans are more pleased with the genetic alteration of foods compared to other places. Yet some are very concerned with cloning meat. There is scant public awareness about this cloning. There are also nano-products that we use daily. There is also no requirement that nano-products be identified as such. But many people called for stronger federal regulations to require safety testing and labeling.
I think that there should be a requirement of some kind of notification of this products. It could be ethical but there is not many things consumers know about it. Since we are not notified about we do not know if it is causing damages to us.

Why do we feel the need to try to improve our lives by trying to manufacture better products? I do not believe in processed foods and especially these new nano-foods that supposedly improve the taste and nutrition of foods. They, if introduced into markets, would be severely corrupting the diets of millions of Americans just as processed foods have done. I believe that nano-foods are not ethical and should be banned from markets in America and should at least be marked as being tampered with on a nanoscopic level so that those who want to avoid these products may. This development is far from an improvement in nutrition, rather it is a new low for the food industry right behind processed food and fast food. I firmly believe in natural foods and I do not believe that any food that is tampered with is ethical or healthy. Just as processed foods have contributed to the obesity crisis I believe that these nano-foods could cause a much worse health epidemic.
Nano-Foods Are Worrisome
Although nano-foods are not proven harmful, scientist are unsure of the effect of smaller particles on humans. Food is what we live off. Why should we put our bodies and health in any jeopardy as a result of consuming unnatural food products?

What I have read in this article still makes me believe that nanotechnology is not always safe. Yes, it MAY help your health and such, but it is a risk. Like the article says, nano-sized particles can invade cells and breach the blood-brain barrier, which would not be good. Cloning meat too, I think is not safe even though people think so, but it is good that less people would buy cloned meat than more people.
I do not think that nano-foods are safe and ethical. First, they are said to be able to invade the cells and blood system. Also, you never know if the food is actually going to taste better or not, it is just saying that maybe so you buy the product, but you never know. Lastly, I do not think it is safe and ethical because most people say it isn't, like the percentages in the article, most people would not buy the nano-food if they knew about it.

There are many things to consider when it comes to nanotechnology. Many innovations have came from nanotechnology like nano-foods. Some people might argue that nanotechnology might be taking over, but I believe that it is just a harmless innovation. This might just be a different type of food that might not gain popularity immediatly, like organic foods or genetically-modified crops. People might consider it, but I think it wouldn't be ethical to buy it when it first comes out, just to make sure all minor problems get fixed. It might also be expensive, as most new things are when they first come out, so many people might not be eager to head to the nano-foods aisle. I believe in the not so far future that nano-foods will be popular and widely used because it wouldn't have to be grown on a farm like most crops are. I can't really say if it will be safe, but I bet the FDA will take care of that.
Nanofoods-Better Than Real Food?
Nanofoods-Better Than Real Food?
Nanotechnology is a fast development in our society and more and more of it is still being developed to this day. This nanotechnology is trying to make everything perfect, but nothing is perfect in the world anyway. USing nanotechnology to enhance the flavor of food is a little overboard because we cannot trust the foods we are eating. If these Nano-foods are going to be put on the shelves at the supermarket, there should definitely be a warning label on the food so the consumer knows what he/she is eating. Cloning meat is another factor that American's do not want to see or eat. Nano-foods could be a safe, but I don't believe it. They have to put more chemicals into the foods to enhance the flavor, which means more chemicals into our body. These chemicals are not body-friendly. The nano-foods have to be looked into more and more people need to be aware what they are eating-labels need to be put on packages of they have been made with nanotechnology!
Nanotechnology- The New Threat to Food

I do think the nanotechnology is interesting, but there are still many questions about it. It can improve nutritional effectiveness and improve flavor. But there are a few concerns about the cloning of some foods. I too also would like to know if the cloning of foods is safe, but it is a little bit more cost efficient.
I guess in the long run, I would saw the nano-food is ethical. I think it is ethical because when you clone the food, you can enhance it to make it healthy. It is also ethical because it can make food less expensive.

nanotechnology
I think that enhansing foods in this way is risky. I have no problem with nanotechnology in socks or bicycles, but I would not want to use this technology when it is possible to ingest it. I am not comfortable with the fact that this technology is being used for food, as well as products like lipsticks and food containers. The long term health results are too unknown for me to put confidence in.
I don't think that nanotechnology is safe as of now. I think that there should be clear lables on products like this (and not in microscopic print) to warn the public of health risks. Studies must continue before I purchase any of these products.

Why do do people try to make lives even more difficult than they alredady are? I don't like the idea of nano-foods. There's safe food out there for people to eat but now supermarkets have begun to sell nano-foods and processed foods. Nano-foods are supposed to improve the taste of food. But there's no point to that. There are nutritional food out there for everyone to eat. Supermarkets shouldn't even consider to sell nano-foods. This is not ethical its a bad thing and should be stopped. Besides who really knows the side effects of nano-foods.

Nanotechnology is being used to clone food to increase flavor or nutritional value. Although many are outraged at the idea of eating cloned foods like meat, Americans are less worried with genetically altered then other countries. Public awareness of the nano-tech food we eat is very low, most people have no idea what companies are doing. There are no laws saying that nano-products need to be identified as such and many everyday things are altered without public awareness. Many people are demanding the labeling of genetically altered food.
I don’t think genetically altered food is safe or ethical. Many effects of genetic alteration are long term and won’t be noticed until the world is too far under to save itself. The genetic alterations may seem safe now but in twenty or thirty years have dire effects on the population. Creating food that was never intended to be made is messing with the food chain and natural way of life. Cloning is never good. I wouldn’t knowingly eat nano-products.

Nanotechnology foods are all over the grocery stores. People like the genetic alteration of foods but don't like that they clone meat. I think you should have some kind of identification of the products that will be consumed. I guess it could but ethical but we don't know much about it.

I do not think these Nanotechnology innovations are ethical. america continually feels compelled to alter every aspect of human life. nothin is left well enough alone. i feel a little bit abused because i had no idea that these things were utilized. if for whatever reason american have to use this technology, then there should be clear notification on the products. & i believe there should be some sort of public service announcement that informs consumers so that they know, and can reject theses products if they feel similarly. Nanotechnology - attempting to infiltrate our food supply.
Nano-technology sounds very dangerous. I dont think all the risks of doing this to food is worth making the food taste a little better or be more nutritious. People say it is safe but there are some huge problems like it can be as harmful as asbestos and it can invade body cells and get into the brain and the blood. This doesnt sound very safe and ethical. People could be buying this food and they dont even know it. I dont think it is ethical to sell people food without telling them what it is made of. I also dont think it is ethical or safe to sell people cloned food if they dont like the idea of eating cloned food.

Genetically altered food is coming out into market without us knowing it. However, officials are trying to make the companies label this sort of foodstuff in order to aid us(especially those who oppose this idea) in choosing food. What they are doing is manipulating the food on a molecular scale. Thus, they are altering the flavor and or nutritional effects of various foods. The problem is, almost no one knows about this and it is not proved up to what the safety level is.
In my opinion, there should be notifications on these kinds of stuff. Also, im concerned about how safe it is and Im not sure about its ethical side as I am not that much of a nano-food user and this is basically the first time i even heard much on it! However, I am not totally against it. If they continue to research on it and improve it in a good way, Ill be sure to use it! ( Just thought about Chocolate flavored salad =P )

Okay, the nanotechnology being used in food is becoming more and more popular in our society now. There are many people who say that they will not feed their children these foods. The technological part of this so called problem is that if you change the food you are making it hurtful. At the same time these people may believe in global warming to which other people find to be a load a baloney.
I think that this new technology that we have come up with is a smart thing. It is making more food out of least resources. It is also making the food/products more affective.

Nanotechnology is used to reproduce food artificially. It takes place on a microscopic level that cannot be seen by the naked eye. supposedly, it can enhance food's flavor, but there are no facts supporting that idea. The companies who say that the flavor is enhanced also say that nanotechnology increases nutritional value. I don't understand how that is possible due to the fact that if it is simply duplicating the food, it isn't changing it in any way, so how is it possible that the nutritional value is increased? i would not eat nanotechnilogically altered food. Anything that doesn't have direct roots to natural items (some chemicals are not in that group) make me very cautious. The companies that use nanotechnology should notify the consumers some how, because it could be deceitful and false advertisement if they use nanotechnology on items without telling someone that's what it is.

I think that they should have a recognition that it is a nano-food. It could be ethical but there is not many things consumers know about it. People are eating saturated fats and altered carbs now so maybe eating it wouldnt be too bad. And the increase in the people to feed might make it necassary. Click Here

I don't like the idea of nanotechnology. The risks taken are not worth the "better" taste and nutrition. People may think it's safe but there are harmful substances that can invade your blood cells and harm your brain also. It doesn't sound too safe to me. Supermarkets can be selling those food without people knowing it. I don't think they should be selling us food without telling us what it's made of.

Nanotechnology involves the design and manipulation of materials on molecular scales. Nanotechnology is basically used to clone the original product and make a new one. The clone is said to suppose to be better then the original product. Like with food, the clone is suppose to be enhanced in flavor and nutritional effects. I think there should be warning labels posted on these products even if there isn't really a need for them. I think people should be able to know what they're eating or using, not that nano technological products are bad. Even though these products are said to be able to help you, I personally wouldn't use it because I myself don't really know much about nanotechnology. I guess nanotechnology is ethical, but i still wouldn't eat it cause I don't know if its safe.
It is the world we live in that we to try and do better and make the next best thing. Nanotechnology just happens to be one of those things. There are many pros and cons to Nanotechnology as in almost everything but the concerns people have for cloning food is how far will we go to "enhance" the flavor of food ? To be honest i don;t think it is necessary and people throughout the ages have survived pretty well with the food supplied from mother nature. And like the article said i think i would be concerned if meat was cloned as that is more difficult ( or it seems to be ) to get perfect and not have any problems with it. I think that the industries should continue research and let the public decide whether they would like to eat it or not but I do think they should label the food that has undergo Nanotechnology as it will be safer .

Consumers are about food created by nanotechnology quietly being put into markets. It is said that nanotechnology can enhance the flavor and nutritional effectiveness of food. US health officals prefer not to put warning labels on until they are certain health concerns. In a focus group for the Food and Drug Association no parents said they would feed their children cloned meat and 53% of people in the NY Times poll said they wouldnt eat genetically altered food.
Many consumers do not know much about nanotechnology yet. It is hard to say whether it is ethical or safe. To ensure safety there should be rules and regulations put in order though I believe some things shouldnt be tampered with at all. As long as no animals are being hurt I would say it to be ethical, but again not enough infomation is known to really determine its ethics.

Many companies use nanotechnology to enhance the flavor of food and nutritional effectiveness of food. Nanotechnology involves the manipulation of food on molecular scales. It is smaller than the width of human hair and it is invisible to the human eye. Most people though are hesitant about eating cloned meat. Some scientists also say that this food is harmful as inhaling asbestos if inhaled in large quantities.
I don't know if Nano-foods are safe but I definitely would not eat them right now if scientists say they are harmful. Maybe when they figure out if eating nano-foods aren't dangerous then maybe. But for right now I will stick to the natural food.

Good job everyone on the blog. I like your creative responses. I personally think nanotechnology is unethical. I think it should be labeled. I also feel that there is hardly any people who know about this cloning. I think there should be stronger federal regulations put into place. I also think our food is good just the way it is and shouldnt be changed.

It is interesting that this nanotechnology is said to make food with better flavor and healthier. Nanotechnology involves the manipulation of food on molecular scales. And it is becoming more and more popular. This kind of food nanotechnology seems risky as opposed to nanotechnology of other items you do not eat.
Overall, i do not think this is ethical. The whole thing seems unnatural. The chemicals that are used may be harmful. I would much rather eat natural foods. And if i were to eat nano products, first i would want to know more about all of it's effects. It sounds unsafe :/

Nanotechnology. Hm, well as much as I would like better tasting foods, I really doubt messing with nature would be a smart thing to do. Food is fine. We do not need to modify food. It's not only the fact that I don't trust what's going on with nanotechnology. A lot of my opinion stems from the fact that so little people know about nanotechnology. And why? Because of the non-requirement to identify nano-products? I for one, would most definitly NOT eat anything unless I knew it was 100% safe. Changing chemicals in foods is one thing; not letting the public know about this is a whole new ball game.
