Surprise, surprise!!!

What happens when you get surprised? Usually people get distracted from whatever they're doing. Being surprised can break their concentration and cause them to lose their attention to detail(s). Recently, new research from Vanderbilt University has shown how being surprised can temporarily blind people.

This is a suprising study (lol no pun intended). I find it interesting that the brain is so susceptible to distractions, so much so that it can temporarily disable us in ways. It seems to me that this study could also have many applications in today's world that can help keep people safe. For example, if someone is supprised while driving and is temporarily blinded, they could get into a serious accident. This study obviously brings us one step closer to understanding the way our complex brains work.

Here is a link to a website that discusses reactions to positive versus negative images. Subjects stared at a series of faces with fearful, happy, etc. expressions. They found that they did respond to fearful images, but more so to happy images.

Everyday people are surprised by many things, whether it’s a surprise party, a traffic accident or even unexpected news. For a short period of time when people may become unaware of their surroundings when they are surprised . Different people act in different ways to a surprise such as screaming or jumping. When you become surprise your heart rate increases. The researches believe that humans may be temporarily blinded by a surprise because of the subsequent response occupies much of our processing ability. This is quite interesting and should be studied further.
Surprise! This article talks about the bodies reaction to a surprise. It also talks about the causes for a surprise. It explains have different surprises have different affects on people whether its making someone excited or even depressed.

ok this is cool. they actually isolated the area of your brain that controls where you are focused to. this could come in handy, like, majorly. if we could take away that limitation that keeps us from focusing on everything, we could theoretically increase our reactions so we could be able to see tings we cant normally see. of course sacraficing the quantity probably increases quality so focusing on everything would probably keep us from noticing etails about something, unless we could still tune things out. there are always unwanted side effects to things.

scientists did an experement on monkeys to see how they react to different stimuli, by showing them a pattern then giving them a drink of water, or showing them a different patern and puffing air into their face. they then measured how long it to recognize which means whichs.
